From TDC should I be going to the exhaust stroke or intake stroke? I am having a little trouble setting the timing. My manual just stats to line the marks up. I have a new cam and was not sure which way to put the sprocket back on. Should the lobes be facing down or up? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adam.

The lobes should be facing down. The "O" on your sprocket should be facing UP. The "T" or the little white nub on your flywheel should be in the little hole when you have the strator cover on. Well you'd be at TDC when the little white dot or the "T" is in the hole. This explain it?
EDIT: When at TDC your valves should be closed because when at TDC you are at your highest compression and if you have the valves open, you lose compression and your valve could hit the piston and damage it. Also when at TDC is when your air valve opens and gas comes in at the same time then the spark plug ignites sending the piston back down into the crank and then your exhaust valve opens and the exhaust created by the explosion goes out. Or something like that.
