 Well I was pulling out a 4X4 Suzuki 4 wheeler today and all of the sudden I had no gears!! The Trike still runs and sounds fine. The cluck still seems like it is engaging just like it was before - tension wise. the only thing is no matter what gear I put the Trike in it still seems like it is in nutreul and I can no get it in any gear. My question is what did I break and how do I fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you hear any noises while trying to get it to go? At any rate, While the clutch my feel correct you may have smoked it.

I bought one from a guy who said it needed something welded becasue it has no gears. It clicks for every selection but absolutely nothing at all. Maybe we can both benefit from this. Help Please!!

You probably fried the clutch. They sell clutch kits for a pretty good price at www.denniskirk.com.

Did you throw the chain? lol.. I think you probably would have checked that by now, but I might as well suggest it. I was riding the R shortly after I got it, and then all of a sudden I wasn't moving!! I couldn't figure it out for the life of me until I got off of the bike and saw the chain laying up by my front tire..

Well the chain is still intact. It is making some noise in there that it wasn't before. I can shift the bike in gears but then when I let out the clutch it doesn't move. I was nursing the clutch in and out while I was pulling out the quad, and I did smell something burning. Also the bike still starts and runs but I am not that mechanically inclined. My brother didn't think I burnt the clutch out because he thought it should still go even without the clutch.

Are they hard to install? If not the clutch what else could it be transmission, etc?

A easy way for me to tell a burned clutch is to smell the oil. If you fried the clutch the oil will smell burned. You may laugh, but oil from a machine with a burned clutch will have very distinctive smell. Try smelling it and see what it smells like.
As far as tranny problems: I have never seen a Honda tranny completely fail all at once. Normally you will loose 1 or 2 gears at a time.

Clutches are easy to replace. All it takes is about a hour with proper tools ( spanner wrench required ).
Tranny's are a pain to replace. Tranny's require you to split the cases. Minimum 4 hours and LOTS patients.

I'll try that. The spanner wrench, is that the tool required to remove the nut from the clutch? Do I just need the 4 clutch plates included in the clutch kit or the springs, etc.? Is this something I can figure out by removing the existing equipment and replacing it, or do I need a manual? If it is harder than replacing drum breaks on a car it might be out of my leauge, lol.

Yes, the spanner wrench is needed for removing the clutch basket and the oil rotor. It isn't pssible to tell if you need new steel plates without inspecting your current ones. I say this because they may be warpped from burning the clutch. As far as difficulty goes, I rate changing the clutch as a 3-4 on a 10 scale for 1st timers. I highly recommend having a good manual close by. You may not need it, but if you don't have one then your sure to need it ( Murphy's law ).

Also, if you get into a jam while woking on it, then get on here and post a question / concern. We are here to help. ;)
