I am trying to remove the axle lock nuts on my 85r. They dont look rusted together or anything like that. I know they are left hand threaded. But which way i turn the inner lock nut (looking at it from the right side of the bike)?

I do not have the correct tools like the service manual says. The 45 and 65 mm wrenches...i looked all over today and couldnt find anything that big. Service honda wants 60 bucks for the 56mm wrench alone...bullshit haha

I tried using two pipe wrenches (worked on my 200s) but I just couldnt get it to budge. I didnt damage the nut at all, but didnt want to force it too much so i do damage it and really screw myself.

I'm sure a lot of you have gone through this before. Can you please give me some pointers on how to get r done. I have some penetrating oil on there right now to hopefully soak in a bit.

Thanks,
Mike

was 1 pipe wrench on the outer nut and my biggest adjustable (20") on the inner. It didn't budge untill I put 5 foot cheater bars on both wrenchs.
That was on my 350X . I think they are about the same as far as tightness.
I also had to use the same to re-tighten so every thing lined back up too.

Holy cow, now thats tight!
Mine was hand tight so it was cake to loosen. After I put new carrier in, the lock nut came loose so I used the blue flavor locktight on it so it could be removed. Has not come loose since.
I bet the red locktite was used and that stuff is darn near permanent.
Like noted above, your saviors name is burnz-o-matic and heat that puppies nuts up!

In my X manual they are saying use a lock tight agent during reassembly so I bet they used it at the factory putting it together too. I also noticed that they use some very long type of 1/2 in drive bars on teir "speacil" spanner tools ( hondaline cheater bars - lol).
As a reference point is the lug nuts for a X calls for 50ish pounds of tourqe,,, those axle nuts call for around 100 lbs. of tourqe ,,,, yep mighty tight for sure !

Hmmmm, now you have me wondering if I got mine tight enough.
I tightened mine until it stopped and then a good snug but did not use gorilla strength on it. I used a couple pipe wrenches.
