I just picked up an '85 200s for $250. It's not in running condition, but the seller swore it would when I fixed the stuck throttle. I thought it was just a cable, but the cable is free...it's the slide that's stuck in the carb! Anyone ever seen this? It doesn't matter because Beatrice has new carbs cheap and I bought one! It'll probably be my first running ATC. My son's ATC90 is a long way from running, and my 200x is a basket case. I have a 185s and a 200x that I ride, but they belong to friends, and there's nothing like having your own ride!

I see those slides stick in carbs on bikes that have been sitting for a LONG time. I know what you mean about owning your own machine. IF you haven already turned the engine over take the plug out and drop a teaspoon of oil or Marviel mystery oil in it to make sure the rings dont stick to the cyclinder.

The slides stick when fuel gums up in the carb. It's probably been sitting quite a while. The carbs aren't that hard to rebuild, but a new one is always nice to have. Good luck with it! Sounds like you got a decent deal.

Mine was like that after sitting 15 years in storage they didnt drain the carb...What a mess to clean, solid Yellow gas...LOL......After that she ran like a champ tho! i just poped the slide loose with a screwdriver...just be careful..

Yeah, the guy admitted that it hadn't been run for 4 years, and I'll bet it was a lot more. I sprayed liquid wrench down the throat last night, but it didn't budge. I haven't checked today. Since I got such a good deal on a new carb, I'm not too concerned now whether it breaks loose.

Of the 3-wheelers that live at my place, my buddy's 185s is by far the fastest, and he's a little too proud of that fact. Is there any chance that a good running 200s will smoke him? That's my working fantasy for the moment....

usually the needle in stuck and not the slide itself. Soak the piss out of it with oil and rebuild the carb. More than likely, the pilot jet is all plugged too.

I got the carb and throttle cable today. Put it all together and it started after about 5 pulls. Not bad, since it hadn't been run for 4 years, according to the previous owner. Funny thing, the shifter is 5 up, which I wasn't expecting. Anyway, it smoked a lot when I first started it, but after a few minutes the smoke died down. I'm not sure if it's going to be a smoker or not. We'll see next time I start it.

Glad you got it going. Don't forget to change your oil.

Yeah, I should have done that right away. Um, stupid question: What oil does that machine take? I can't find that information.

Thanks for the manual! That rocks. I finally looked it up in a 200X clymer manual and found that there's a range and you can use 10w-30 or 10w-40, depending on the temp outside. I assumed my 200s would be similar.
