Well I won a short track tank on E-bay & got Er put on. Thanks to all you guys for the Idea. I never had a clue that honda even made a short track tank for the R. Now all I need is a 10" front wheel & tire and a new seat cover . It made it look alot better and also made it possible for me to move the steering stops in farther for sharper turning. I was kinda stuck with the tripples hitting the tank and thought I was going to have to change the rake to make it turn properly. Little did I know honda made the cure for my problem 20 years ago. SWEET :D.

That bike is looking real good now. Are those 1985 forks? If so, they should have the small springs like I was telling you about.

very nice!!! One lucky boy you have there! He's got a custom made ATC85R! Honda should have made it in the first place! How much did you get the Short track kit for on ebay??????

Do you reckon you could post a picture besides a full size 250R now with the short track tank?

Thanks guys. Derrick they are 86 forks, I allready tried your spring idea, bummer there 85's. I paid $208.00 for the tank & shrouds. That was a little steep, but I had to have it to make it steer correctly. Over all the tank is really in better shape than my origional tanks. Yes I will post up some pic's with It alomg side of my R so we can see the difference. I really notice the biggest difference when I sit on it. I feel like my knee's will hit the bars when I turn. The tank sure makes the bike look smaller & that Is just what it needed.

Here are some pic's of the two side by side. Notice how much higher the 80 looks in the rear, because of the shorter TRX swinger. I ordered a lowering link to get the back end where it should be. Since I put the bigger rear tires on, it changed the rake on the forks. So the lowering link is a must. I also think my boy will be better off with the lower center of gravity. Also for anyone who cares, I found some awesome news. The bore of the rear shock & rod diameter are the same from a 96 & up CR-80 to a 85-86 ATC 250-R. That is the greatest news for me. I bought a CR 80 shock off E-bay, so I can rob the valve & spring to put in the R shock. That will set the rear suspension up sweet for a light weight kid. I was standing at the motorcycle parts counter looking to buy some shock valve shims & this old parts guy who Is a genious comes out & says I know a 400ex is the same size as a cr-80. So I ran out to the truck & got my R shock that was apart. The old man measured them up & sure enough they are all the same.:beer

What brand of rear tires are you running and how do they pull in the mud? how about when your trying to slide a corner? Thanks, Dave

They are Titan Fast trekker's & I love them. They slide great & have awesome forward bite. They are also good in the mud, because they don't load up bad. When they do get packed with mud they clean out fast because the tread is pretty open.

Looking great man!

How good does that thing go for an 80?

You should look into some low-profile rear fenders for that thing from Maier. They would fit that bike perfectly! Little bit of scrubbing and some fresh paint and that thing would look like a factory bike!

honda200s1984, I am really Impressed with the power this little thing has. It is so light, I took it to the car wash & man It was simple picking it up into the truck. You can pull & ride wheelies with it pretty easy. I bought an 03 85cc motor & put it on the CR motorcycle. The motorcycle motor has alot more low end power than the trike. I think I will make the swap from one to the other before to long.

Derrick I will see what happens on the fender situation. I cut all the broken pieces off my R fenders from the Galion H.S. & stuck them on the 80. I will slowly buy new parts & keep improving on it. I made my own 10" front wheel today, I cut up some old 10" rears & used the shallow sides to make a trike front. I have to drill a valve stem hole & it will be ready to use. It turned out sweet. The tire should be here on monday I hope.

Finally got around to making one huh? Hope it works, you'll definately be wanting one for the flat-tracker.

I will put the wheel on today without the tire & make sure It clears. It worked out to be a real easy job. The only bummer is It took 2 wheels to make one . I will keep watching E-bay for some used 10" wheels.

Because the hub is so big on the front of the R's there are no extra stud holes in the wheel like I thought there would be. I had to have my buddy machine it way out :beer.

How's the shock and lowering the rear coming on this bike? The modded seat is almost done for it. It looks alot smaller now! You'll love it.

Jason Hall

The lowering link Is In & the rear shock Is together, but I need to turn the lower aluminum fork section of the shock down smaller so the CR spring will fit over It. The internal parts were exactly the same. I simply took the piston & shimms off the CR shock rod & put them on the R shock rod. I need to fill It with oil & have my buddy In the cycle service dep charge It with nitrogen.

Here are som pic's to show the progress from It's early life, to the latest. Can't wait to put the seat on Big D, that will help Er out big time. Now for some decent plastic & to Install the lower Cr bars that you suggested, I've got Em just need to put them on.

Boy, anything that could go wrong with this seat has. First I wasn't happy with the foam, so I tore the new skin off and re-did it. Then my vinyl die was bad and I can't get anymore. While I was thinking about that I hear crack, pop... crack, pop. Only to find my daughters cat sharpening it's claws on the BRAND NEW COVER! So, for giggles I decided to try it the old fashioned way of lettering (which looks crude compared to professional die)

So at this point, I'll be recovering the seat blue for you and sending it out with no lettering. (Unless of course my paint supplier can score some more vinyl.)

Anyhow, here's what it would have looked like.
