My 200x is making a fairly loud knocking noise that's got me kinda worried. It only makes it when it idles. What could it be? I'm almost to the point of sticking it somewhere leaving it untill it becomes worth what I've put into it.

Jonathan is it coming from the top or bottom of the motor? 8)

try tightening your cam chain. Or is it a different noise than that? I've really never seen a 200x cam chain adjust work correctly, the auto adjust thing makes the cam chain very noisy. The way we do it is take off the fly wheel cover, loosen the cam tensioner bolt 14mm I think, then take a screw driver and stick it through one of the slots in the fly wheel and pry up on the tensioner until you think the tension is right.

this is gonna sound weird jonathan but it works and how the pro's do it (cept they use a stethascope)
get a long screwdriver or a piece of pipe and start your motor.
put the pipe or whatever you end up using on the case and hold your ear to the other end the pipe. you should be able to tell where the sound is coming from by moving to upper - lower case's.

Yep, Jes is 110% correct....Never thought of the idea until i asked dad how i could tell where the noise was coming from...turned out to be my cam chain...knocking could be ALOT of things....mine turned out to be my cam chain.

I'm gonna try the stethascope thing tomorrow. Now everybody pray that it's the cam chain for me. If I have to split the cases to fix it, then the X going away for a long long time.
