Will a 86-87 transmission work in a 83 model :wondering

later modaels are 6 speeds. 83-85 are 5 speeds

i knew that the 86-87 where six speeds i was hoping that there was a way to stuff it in my 83 oh well. Any one know a good place to get tranny parts i'm having a problem with third gear it keeps poping in and out i also found some metal shavings in the oil.

are you looking to upgrade your 200x to a 6 speed?If so you should look into the xr200 bottem end.the downside is that the xr200 kicks the opposite way compared to the 200x so you need to swap out the 200x kicker gears into the xr....
