So my dad went to look at an R for me while I was at school today, and he decided to buy it. It came with new Maiers all around (And original plastics without a crack on them.. just a tiny bit faded), new tires, new rims, 3 sets of rear tires (the originals, which are bald so really only 2) , two front tires (the original one, which is bald..so really only one), the original rims, an FMF (I think?) exhaust, a +2 swinger, and the original swinger. Think I did ok? I'll post pics up for you guys in a sec.

(there are more coming..)

Now there are a few things wrong with it. The back brakes need new pads, it needs a new front brake lever, and it needs some paint here and there, but nothing major. Ooh yeah.. it does need a new headlight and there is no taillight.. My question to you guys is.. is that how the expansion chamber is supposed to be held on? it looks like those springs are all that are holding it..

My dad said "I hate 2 strokes!" the whole time I was telling him about how I wanted it. Now he went to get it, got it home, and was STILL saying that. Then we couldnt get it started for the life of us, and that only increased his anger at two strokes. So we went to get some gas, put it in there, and it fired right up. Then I took it for a rip (after figuring out the clutch.. because thats the first time I've ever driven anything with a clutch), and then I let him ride it. He wasn't too enthusiastic about it. Then he came back after about 5 minutes of riding with a giant smile on his face. He started asking me how much he thought we could get for the original swinger, rims, and plastics and if he thought that if we sold those parts and his Big Red if we would get enough money to pay it off.. lol. Because originally, I was going to buy this bike, fix it up, and then sell it again.. but now he is hell bent on keeping it. Classic story! He's out there right now riding around the yard.. lol.. he's been out there for atleast half an hour.
He is amazed at the power, plushness of the suspension, and blah blah blah.. lol. In his words "Its sweet!"

Looks like you got a real good deal there nouse. Congrats on the R. You have quite the nice lineup now, 350, 250r and a SX. Nice!
Treat her right! Just like the SX :)

That is my dad in those pics riding BTw.. I couldn't get him off of it!
And my original plan was to buy it, fix it up, and sell it.. then put the money I gained against the X project.. but now I'm trying to think of a way to get enough money to pay it off and keep it..

well i just sold one for you grilfirends dad and he was the original owner and it didnt as nice as yours but it looked nice and he got 1200 for it. i would say yours would go on ebay for around 1800-2000 if a collector saw it but probly 1700-1800 but thats my guess. here is what his looked like.

Are you talking about my SX? There's no way I'm selling that!! I'm talking about the R.. how much do you figure its worth with all the extra parts, etc...

oh hahahahah ok my bad one in that shape around here with the parts mayb 1550 but if you do some tlc like for one get the original headlight on there and new fork boots and just clean it up you could get close to 2000 or mayb 1850. one more thing is the said sprocket cover broken or just missing?

The red thing that goes around it? I have it.. I just took it off because it was just kind of hanging there. I'm planning on putting it back on.
How much do you boys think I could get for those spare rims, swinger, and plastics if I were to sell them?

breastman569
02-16-2006, 07:14 PM
rims not much they arent a hot item but with the swinger if you sand blast it and paint it and put new decals on it, which i did and it didnt take much, i got $85 for mine and on the plastic unfourtunatly the 250R's dont sell as well as 350X's but if you color sand them and get the fading out you could get mayb 200 for the rear and 60 for the front.

Did you just spray paint the swinger? How much did you have to spend on it all in the end?

And what parts do you need? PM me with the part and an offer and I'll see what I can do..

What about it?
The guy told me that it was missing that little clip that goes on there to hold it on.. but he said he had something made so that it didn't need that. I didn't quite get it but...

Nothing, for now. Right now I don't have enough money to buy this trike.. my parents paid for it and they said if I fixed it up and sold it, I would get 3/4 of the profit. But I decided that I am going to take the money out of my bank account and keep the trike until I absolutely need the money (if I can't get the money paid back). So it looks as though I'm atleast keeping this trike for right now and I am going to keep it the way it is until I get the X done, get this trike paid off, and have enough money to mess with it. For right now, its just the trike to have fun on.

And we just went out to the garage and there was gas all over the floor and there was gas like pouring from the carb overflow tube (I'm pretty sure thats what it is), what would cause this? Its not a big deal.. it only drained out like 1/2 inch of gas from the very top of the tank and it doesn't leak until it sits for awhile.. so all I have to do is turn the gas off when I'm done riding.. but what would cause this??

Worn out needle or seat, or sticking float. Clean the carb out, and check the conditon of the needle/seat

Ok. I'll do that as soon as I get this X project done with. I definately can't be taking apart this R while I have the X in pieces. Actually.. right now the biggest piece of this thing that is together is the swinger and skidplate, and thats because the swinger doesn't need any work and the skidplate is new! lol

This R is going to be one small, but fun project once I'm done! Dear lord. I went from having the SX, to having 2 more trikes within a month!
God this is an obsession..

I'm considering putting a 350X headlight on this R instead of an R headlight. I have a 350X with.. of course a 350X headlight and an SX with a 350X headlight.. I might just have to keep the trend going. And not to mention R headlights are going for just about as much as 350X headlights.

All I know that it is a +2" swinger. I'll get some better pics tomorrow. These were just taken in like 2 seconds in between the time that I rode it and my dad rode it. It was very dirty in those pics.

Not yours on your trike, the center pic Breastman posted. Maybe he was still assembling when he took the pic. Just something that caught my eye! :p

Here are the pics of the swinger you wanted.. it was in the garage when I took these because it is way too cold out to be standing around snapping pics outside. So I can get better ones when its not so cold and windy out..
What kind of swinger is this?
