Sandpaper. Lots and lots of sand paper. Depending on how bad the scratches are start off with either 80 or 100 grit. Then, move to 220, 400, 600, 800, and finally 1500. What your goal is, when you move up in sandpaper, you want everything to be smooth with that grit, then move on. Your lucky you can use sandpaper, all we had back in my day was a stick and a ball.

I have found out through my own experience that you first want to get the waxy build up completely off (lots of sanding with about 100 to 180 grit) and gradually use finer grit up to about 400 to 600. At this point the plastic will have a white haze from the fine scratches on the surface. Now for the cool part, get yourself a heat gun (rent one ,borrow one or whatever) and start heating the surface of the plastic very slowly until those fine scratches begin to melt but be careful not to overheat the plastic. This is really easier than it sounds andyou will be quite impressed with the results. Then you can buff or wax them if you want to make them really shiney. Good luck---Joe 8) ps make sure you wet sand, not dry!
