$1000 250R w/ extras.. good deal?

Hey guys. We recently found a 250R in my area for $1000. The guy says it has new Maier plastics along with the old ones that aren't in bad condition. It has a fresh rebuild as well. He says it runs real good. I haven't went to see it.. but do you figure it would be worth $1000?
What should I look for when I go to look at it??

Depends. If its a water pumper then I'd say go for it. Haven't seen a '85-86 go for under $1500 around here.

And we also found an '89 Honda XL500 dirt/street bike for $500. Figure thats worth it?

If it is in good mechanical condition, It's worth $1000. I paid $1500 for my one and $500 for the other. And the $500 one wasn't worth a dime more than that. I thought I had them all gathered up in this area. LOL!! I'm done buying $1000 bikes, have enough. Marty did have one from Big Run up there last summer.

The guy said it runs strong and he just had it rebuilt about 2 rides ago. I'm going to get in touch with him tomorrow and go see it. Maybe I'll be comin home with an R!!

The Trade is chalk full of 3-wheelers this week. The R for $1000, and 2 Big Reds.

And what is an '80 YZ 250? Dirtbike?

We have a thing up in our area called the Trade. Its a local thing.. the farthest away place that I've ever seen an ad in there for was only 60 miles away.

Yes, a YZ is a dirtbike. Good luck w/ the R. Hope its to your liking and ends up in your garage.

We got ahold of the guy today and are going to see it (I'm almost positive I'm going to get it) tomorrow. I guess the guy redid it from the ground up. Painted everything.. new tires and rims.. new plastics.. blah blah. He has all of the old stuff. He said that it needs new axle bearings, but from what he described it sounds like he just needs to tighten his axle nut. We'll see!!
