View Full Version : rear axle bearings question
How do I replace the rear axle bearings on my 185s. I have the axle carrier off and the axle out, but I don't know how to get the bearings out.

grab a long punch.. and push the other side out... a few selective blows w a hammer and chisel/punch!

Put the carrier on a workbench standing up and get a long flat head screwdriver or a punch and begin to tap the bearing that is on the bottom closest to the workbench out evenly with a hammer and your punch/screwdriver. Then flip it over and do the other side.
hmmmm........a punch? Ok I'll try it. How would you get new ones in then?

Use a large socket or nut or whatever you could find that is the size of the outer race of the bearing and tap it in evenly.
