okay
got a yamma 225 for free a while back, never touched it until yesterday.

the kid i got it off of said nothing wrong with it just put carb back on and your good to go

well i put the carb back on yesterday and pulled and pulled nothing

first off theres 3 hoses out of the carb, the main gas line, another hose nipple abover maine gas line and then the bowl overflow line

when i turn the gas on the bowl overflow will NOT stop flowing, gas goes in as fast as it goes out and i have no clue how to stop it.
i capped it off, but then gas was comig out both sides of the carb so thats a no go. any clue as to how to stop or fix the overflow problem there?

also the 2nd hose nipple i read is another overflow hose and runs up along gas tank/frame. so im assuming it goes to noghtin, is this correct?

the first day i tried playing with it i did get the motor to pop but thats it, nothing has happened since then.

i have poured gas into the cylinder a couple different times and nothing.

the plug is getting spark but i havent checked the gap yet, also plug in it is a 7ae, is this the right plug?

it was an electric start but i guess all the lines are disconnected, i do plan on taking them all out and keeping it just a pull start.

i cant quite figure out why theres no spark, unless its getting too much or not enuf gas but like i said its weird cuz ill put gas in cylinder and pull it and nothing will happen.

Float in the carb is stuck open--"REFRESH it"
Pop the plug out and make sure there is a spark at theend of the plug--If your carb is overflowing --the plug MUST be fouled

Get a wiring diagram and fix the electric starter---It will be well worth the effort

ok ill take out the carb and "refresh it" whatever that means lol (ill figure it out)

yes the plug is getting spark, i have had it out and on the block, pulled it and spark

to get it refixed means ill have to run new wires off the battery cuz the old ones are all corroded and stuff, and theres no push button or anyting so either ill have to yank one off another wheeler, or rig it up, but if you say its worth it ill do that this spring.

Refresh-----Not quite a rebuild---More like......Two cans of Carb cleaner..an old Toothbrush--And a service manual-------Slowly dissasemble and look at the float

(Its a good idea to get a big towel on your work table and take it apart above the towel --there are parts that CAN fall out un noticed)----
As you dissasemble you will understand what the float does and why it doesnt stop the fuel flow-----

thx that does help alot, i also forgot to mention the reason that all i had to do was put the carb on and im good to go, was cuz he took it off to clean it and apparently didnt put it back together right.

besides that the motor should turn over by putting gas down the cylinder. im trying that without the carb on and still nothing. now it has been sitting for a long time and stuff and it is cold up here (currently its snowing and like 15 degrees or so) maybe itll just take alot of pulling to get it started?

also since it was electric start....exactly where is the starter so i can just hook a battery up there and try it like that?

ill be looking for a starter now anyways and probiubly find it

The gas in the cylinder really cant do anything with the wide open hole where the carb should be-----Are the parts in the carb at all?----as for the starter---

There are Yamaha parts schematics on the Homepage under Service Manuals or such....
