I upgraded my 86 250r's carb to a 35mm pwk air striker, anyone else using this carb on their R? I was just wondering if I'll be able to use my stock throttle cable with the new carb?

stock one will do... if you order a replacement cable it says the cable fits up to 38mm carbs... you onlly have to go bigger with a 39.5

I installed a new cable with mine, I run the same carb you bought. Alot of people on here will say you wasted money cause you didnt get the 39 but hell, if your like me you dont need it and that 35 does a nice job IMO. Where did you get yours and what jetting are you running?

Yup, i got the 39 mm airstriker on my R, used the stock cable and it was WELL worth the time. :)

i went with a larger cable on my 39.5 cause i was told it wouldnt clear properly... my stock cable might still work with it... but who cares they will be up for sale soon anyhow LOL

I don't think they make a 39mm Air Stryker. I think 38 is the max.

Funny thing...I am running a 39mm on my KTM 550 two stroke. I can't imagine a 250 needing that much.

I guess I could run a 40 or 41 (over bore)?

Don't you lose some bottom end with the bigger carb? The 250r has very little on the bottom anyway.

Hmmmm....

I went with the 35mm because my motor is all stock other than carbon fiber reeds so a bigger carb really isn't needed. Most of the trails I ride are tight so I wanted to keep as much low end as possible. My PJ is worn out and instead of replacing it with another PJ I figured why not get a newer tech carb. I bought mine off e-bay from a company called 1dir racing and they pre-jetted it (45 pilot, 165 main and DEK needle on 3rd clip position) from the information I gave them from the jets I was running in my PJ. What are you running for jets in your air striker? Any motor mods?

Ahh, motor mods are slim on mine as well
Full FMF exhaust system
Boyseen Rad valve
Uni filter (or a moose, I cant remember which bike has what) with no airbox lid
.030 Pro-X piston
Hinson clutch basket
Hinson Pressure plate
Thats all the engine mods that I can think of but I bought the bike used so there could be something else, there is no port work however and I was excited about that (no idiot with a dremil has played with my cyclinder). Alot of the mods on mine are chassis for handling. Anyway The carb is set with I think a 165 main and a 45?? pilot with the needle on the 2nd clip. ESR pre jetted it according to my mods. The carb came with a metal holder full of mains and They set the pilot, I ordered some extras but by the way it seems to run I didnt really need them.

Yeah, 38 is the correct size. Mistype! I suck at this computer thing.
