Why?- had a base gasket leak where the case halves come together under the intake. Was rebuilt by me last year. The case halves are not aligned meaning you can feel an ridge where they meet and the base gasket suface obviously is not flush there. I am sure the cases have never been split (owned it for 10 years and just bored .040" over last year.) I have heard one may draw file the surface flat which I am assuming means remove the studs and do the whole thing. Also heard you just slap Permatex High tack or Yamabond there.

Can case halves become misaligned over time?

One head stud was really rusty? Coolant exposure?

The head gasket material melted and stuck to the head and cylinder so when i seperated them just the metal ring was left in the middle. Looks like its goin to suck to remove. So is there a gasket remover spray out there?

Is there something I can do to prevent the bonding of the head gasket material to the metal? Heard there is like a Permatex spray on gasket sealer that helps.

Use some yamabond on it, should seal it up, the case half's are Misalinged Either becuse 1 has been replaced (always replace as a set) and sometimes the casting from the factory is just off.

I was just told the head gaskets are supposed to do that for a better seal.
