I'm looking to buy a 200x and I would like to know what things I should really pay attention to.Was there ne certain problems with 1983-1985 200x's?

and I would also be able to know some bolt ons i could buy that would either bring up speed, power, or take off.

thnx some plz reply

Kick starter slippage seams to be the biggest prob.
As for bolt ons I would go with a K+N filter,SupperTrap racing exguast. These will bring up you top speed quicker. For power I would recommend weisco pistion, performance cam, stiffer valve springs.
For take off I would go with smaller front sprocket, larger rear sprocket.

for take off you want a smaller front larger rear ;).

About the only thing not listed was a high comp pistion.

Don't go to the Highest comp piston,or you will have to use race gas.

Also check the frame. 83-85 200x's dont have the strongest frames. Check most of the welds. As for the motor check the oil! I got home with a milky motor one time (water in the oil).

Yes, the kickstarter return spring is prone to failure and the flywheel key is prone to breaking.

You can run a high comp 10.25:1 piston and use pump gas. It to me would be the best bang for the buck. An air filter and make sure the jetting is on par with the rest of the mods would be wise. After that your running into bigger budget parts. All these mods won't give you a higher top speed either, it'll just make getting t top speed quicker. Changing the gearing can give you a higher top speed but you'll lose power somewhere else whenever you change the gearing.

If your looking at more power already I'd look for a bigger bike. Maybe an aircooled 250R or your neighbours 350X. lol

Also check the brakes, They can be costly to repair or replace(master cylinder and calipers). Along with the kick starter. I had one in pretty good condition, but the kick starter was fryed. In most cases you have to split the cases to repair it. I would PM Howdy I know he has a lot of info on the kicker issues for that bike and he also sells rebuilt kits for the kicker. I would check thise things and base what you are willing to pay for it on the condition of those parts.
