can i just pull the cable off my thumb throttle and put it into my twist? i have a stock thumb throttle and a motion pro twist throttle. i have never tried swapping them before so i figured i would ask before i go diving in there.

I do beleive it's just that simple !!! As long as the mounting screws are not seized on !! ( that tends to happen alot with 20 year old machines !! )

I don't think you can I believe most twist throttles need a longer cable then the Thumb throttle, at least all the ones I messed with.

Yes, it is that simple! Did it with mine. Only took about 10 minutes. But im going back to thumb. Right turns are a killer w/ twist on a trike.

mine on my 200x, I had to use a 83-85 twist kit for the 27mm carb I have on my 86 200x. most require a different cable. I like a twist better, but I wouldn't put one on my 250r, way too fast of a bike and a small slip will send me flying off the back, my 250r is far from stock.

I had to use a longer cable for my 83 250r. Above all, i like the thumb more.

I agree. About 97% of teh time, the twist requires a longer inner cable.

my thumby is stiff and won't return smoothly. i have cleaned the slide and there are no kinks in the cable and it is routed freely but nothing helps. also i use twisties on all my motorcycles so i feel comfortable with them.

Try lubing the cable ?
