I was riding my 85R today, and noticed it started to make a sound almost like a " ping ". what could this be caused from? it can't be a low octane because I use VP 110. :w00t: Anyways, the motor is ESR 310 big bore w/ stroker plate, v-force valve and reeds, FMF pipe and silecer. Any ideas ?

Im thinking, im not completely sure, but it could be your timeing. If your timing is the slightest off and you get up at high RPM's it will start to ping. Not completely sure though.

ping is preignition which is bad for your motor because the gas is igniting before it reaches top dead center, which is hard on your crank, this can be from both timing and low octane fuel. make sure you get it fixed before you keep riding.

I just noticed it yesterday. Maybe its always been there, never noticed it before. And I know it can't be low octane because its VP 110. Ill check the jetting, tha nks for the info. :)

when did you start using the 110, is it jetted for the race gas?
viscosity differs between pump & race fuels.

Yes, when i got the new engine put together, i started running race fuel and jetted it accordingly .....
