Well here is my 87 SX. I put a lot of time in on her in the last 2 weeks to get her done. But with a little Clay Magic:naughty: , I guess anything is possible. All I need to finish the job is a new shroud for the headlight and I may possibly want to repaint the tank. Im just not sure about the tank. It looks pretty nice and the decals are perfect. Anyway here she is. I guess Im one of the few, if not only board member besides Vintage Motorsports that has a complete bike. Im pretty happy:p . Here she is. Comments welcome.:pics:

Nice job, Clay. I take it you decided no on the headlight shroud?
Nice bike and good job!

Oh BTW. How'd you get your exhaust header and engine so shiney? Did you paint it or was it like that? What'd you use if you painted it?
And what is the comparison between an '85 and '87?

No im still trying to decide on the shroud. I sand blasted the entire frame and repainted it. I used Duplicolor Gloss Black High Temp engine paint. THen detailed all the bolts head fins etc back to aluminum. Turned out great. The 87 rides much better than the 85. I cant put my finger on it, but the rear has a lot of differences to it. And Its rider capasity is much higher. 330lbs.

Clay, regarding the header pipe. In your pic It looks like there is a cover or shield between the head and the "normal" heatshield. Is this 87 only?
BTW, nice work.

85's have different rear-end set-ups, different swingarm, axle, and hubs. not sure about the shock
Looks great! From what I can tell from the photos, I'd leave the tank as is.

Hey man. The 87 SXs and BigReds bot have that second heat shield on the header. It keeps some of the heat off the front mudflap. Nice add. Thanks for the props guys.:beer
