recently I have heard some of my friends ask me about a threewheeler named "sasquatch". i have never heard anything on this but i got 2 different people talking about to different trikes so there must be some truth to this. they describe the wheeler sorta like a big red. any clues and/or details about these "sasquatch" trikes would be helpful, thanks

They are black, like a maco called a 340 sasquatch, they have a B&S 8 hp i think it was with a solid frame, torqeconverter, and big ballon tires.

Thats funny! I have been trying to use that angle to get my wife to come riding with me. You see she is fascinated with "Bigfoot" and I told her we could take a road trip and go riding looking for him. Still working on it. I told her if we find him and he tryes to "Get Us" we can get away faster on a trike.

One of my freinds was just telling me about the two Sasquatch three-wheelers at her cabin about thirty miles east of McCarthy, Alaska! They were dissasembled and flown out in a Beaver (classic bush plane) years ago to get close to the cabin. They were then packed onto sled and drug behind a widetrack snowmachine in the wintertime to get the rest of the way. She said they had big tires on the back, front and rear racks, and were black and orange.

I had never heard of them before. Howdy; do you have any pictures? What years were they made? Is it a geared transmission (1,2,3,4...) or more like a hydrostatic drive?

Me and my freind were discussing if it would be possible to get them out of there; we decided they'd have to come out in parts on a plane. Thirty miles of bushwacking (no trails out there) and many river crossings, probably including the Chitina and Copper Rivers which are both nearly a mile wide, kinda confirmed that.

I couldn't help reading the sasquatch info, but I know for a fact that the 340 sasquatch throttle is not twist grip. I has basically the same throttle as a normal 4-wheeler.

you said that it's ugly. OK, but don't forget that you are probably as ugly as the Sasquatch, and your mother loves you.. hihihi.

First ever forum for me. Question. Does anyone know where I can find manuals for my two Sasquatch 340's from communter industries I just bought yesterday? They run great, but one's carb, from the bowl under the carb, is leaking gas huge.

Also does anyone know their tongue weight restrictions for towing? thanx in advance bunches!

Early models had a flip down cover over the flywheel that gave you access to the starter drum. Wrap a rope around it a pull. Later models had an actual recoil backup. We own several of them.

Here's a pic of one I just converted to a snomobile.

Hello everyone, are there any adjustments on the carburetor for idle, etc? I have a friend who got one for free and he got it running after sitting for years. Unfortunately someone has the idle set so high it took off on initial start and ran into the back of his truck. I saw two screws on the carb, one looked like an air jet, and the other was some sort of adjustment(maybe air mixture screw?) nothing seemed to calm the beast down though. The other problem he is having is it is breaking up when he hits the higher rpm's and I didn't know what may cure this? Any help on Sasquatch carb would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello, I just picked up a running Sasquatch 340 yesterday,
and wound up here after a quick google search..

This thread has the most relevent info on the Squatch so I thought I'd contribute..
and I have a few questions as well.

I just found an Exploded Parts Diagram with part #'s for the KF82D-X engine:
http://ipl.ordertree.com/ipl/99/FZ340D-S13(A).pdf
^ this was likely from a different application, but most of the part #'s should be the same.

Spark Plug - NGK B6HS according to the Sasquatch owners manual,
Someone else posted this ^ info, can anyone confirm this is correct?
..the above listed Parts diagram says NGK BR4HS

my sasquatch has a champion J8C in it,.. so I'd like to get the right plug

SALSBURY BELT, KEVLAR ARAMID REINFORCEMENT 704142 4:T:2:10
^ Has anyone been able to cross reference this belt # ?

jaylaura327 --- Nice job on your Sasquatch

Glad to see another one show up on this forum. There are a few here.

I have one that is still in original condition, used hard and long on a farm, to herd cattle and haul supplies, and it is still ready to do a days work.

I still use it occasionally. It really has a lot of workable power; completely different than the Honda Big Reds, which I also still use. The Sasquatch will out work the Big Red in the fields, whether hauling supplies, or pulling a chemical spraying trailer. It is no slouch either on the open road, with the engine purring and the Salsbury clutch fully extended, it will actually go too fast for a big machine like that. Well, too fast for the original brakes. Let me clarify that.

That workable power is attributed to the Kawasaki Industrial engine and the Salsbury clutch arrangement. The Salsbury was the forerunner of the modern Comet snowmobile clutch and Polaris uses a similar setup on their ATV's.

Do a search on this site and there are some pics of mine and a few others. I think those owners still have their's too, no-one seems to sell these.

I bought a Sasquatch in Anchorage AK in May, and brought it out to the Alaskan bush. All the way along the trip I met old timers that said pretty much the same thing, "Man that's a good looking Sasquatch, I've had mine since it was new. Use it almost every day...Wanna sell it?" So I guess they are hard working machines. I haven't put mine up to much suffering yet, but I will. Has anyone worked on the transmission on one of these? I think the seals are shot and it is leaking oil at the axles. I'm hoping that they're just plain seals like would be on a trailer.

Also anyone have one with reverse. Mine has the stud on the trans, but is missing the linkage. I think I bought it from the guy who posted on here about the same question.

I wish I had more info for you. I'm sure somebody here will.

I made a comment about somebody asking too much for their Sasquatch a couple of weeks ago and a long time Sasquatch owner spoke up and was very defensive of the machine. Apparently they have a very good reputation and a firm following, undoubtedly for good reason. I'm surprised there weren't any at Trikefest.

I bought mine for $500 in good operating condition. You could start there and see if you have any luck.

Are using ribbed belts? That's what they use, like a snow machine style belt.

I measured my spare belt. Its 7/8" wide at the top and about 46" in circumference. Found one that looks like it matches the specs at http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=USp&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=belt+46+X+7/8&gs_upl=22419l24121l0l24615l2l2l0l0l0l0l0l0ll0l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1366&bih=610&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=6234027453675264250&sa=X&ei=bzddTub9C-KnsAK1gYkS&ved=0CD8Q8wIwBA

Hope that helps.

Hey guys,

I'm new here. I'm looking for a clutch for an old Sasquatch three wheeler. Any ideas where i might find such a thing. We've tracked down a couple of bikes but haven't found one that had a clutch that was still intact. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Very hard to find.
Have you tried a John Deere dealer because they used the same engine in their 5 weelers in the 80s

Good luck

I have been wanting to pick this beauty up for a while. The front fender looks like a Commuter but it definitely isn't a Sasquatch or Granger. Anyone seen one like this before? I have searched every Pacesetter, Commuter, Heald, Bird Engineering, Agway and have come up with none like mine. The only trike that had a similar front fender but nothing else was the Bird "Super Bronc 3".

Thanks.

Let me say this...I believe it is a Commuter as it has the most "like" characteristics. The most recognizable would be the front fender.

The only other trike that has the same type fender is the Super Bronc 3

Yes, I did purchase this trike and now want to tear it down and build it back.

you might post more pics from different angles so everyone can get a better idea of whats there the rear rack looks like a custom add on haven't seen any pics of the commuter with that rack but think these odd ones are just cool!!

It has the commuter style... rear and front fender... but it looks more like someone rebuilt the front end and made a back rack.
