Hey guys, my 350X tank shrouds had these little bracket spacer things between them and the tank and was wondering if you all had them on yours as well? The parts diagrams do not show these pieces on them and some have told me that their 350X's didn't have these things either...Are there supposed to be just the 2 screws w/collars on each side or are these brackets required? thanks

The 85 350X had that bracket, then 86 did not. All repro by Honda as far as the shrouds do not have the mounting location for this bracket. Best regard is just to ditch it and replace with new.

Hmmm... I don't think so. I ordered 86 tank scoops, and they had the spot to use this piece. (86 scoops are "cut back" more than the 85's, hence they catch less on the front forks)

OH I'm not about to throw them away trust me...just wondering if they were an oem part for the X's...must have only come on the early models I guess.

Ok maybe I am wrong, for as many of them as I have seen I thought they did not. Will do more research today and post some pics

Yeah let us know what you find out on that....it's sort of like with the toolbox-Why does the '85 model have a lid that allows room for the chain adjusting tool to go in there and the '86-87 model doesn't and just has the flat lid.

I would guess because it was easier to make a one lid fits almost all rather than a bunch of totally firrent ones. Cheaper production, like taking that bracket thing away.

I kinda like the lid style on the '85 X more because you don't have to jam the toolbag set in there either...plus I think it looks cooler.

Ahhhhh... misleading info again! The 86 didn't because it didn't use a spanner wrench to adjust the chain! It had an "improved" rear axle carrier.

Hey I only call it as I see it. I will leave it at that,

I check with my new shrouds and found both sides have a spot to place a screw for that bracket. Hope this helps

Hey, well if you could post a pic of how the bracket is mounted on your tank that would be cool...I think the wider part goes towards the bottom? Also, do you know if both screws are supposed to have those collars around them or just 1 screw? I think just the top screws on mine had the collars.

Well... before I was "Hondaline" Hartman, my forte was being a 350X guru. I learned most of my 350X mind tricks from the :banned: and nameless. You may get there some day Young Jedi.... just intake knowledge until you have a chance to apply it. ;)

Pat... If I recall, it is just the top screw that has the collar. The bottom I think the collar is built into that bracket.

Per you first posted pictures, the top where it is smaller and extends a bit goes with the extended side facing away from the trike into the lower screw hole in the shroud. Large lower end goes around the raise plastes peice further out in the shroud and a screw is placed to secure, des this help I am not at the shop currently

top shrouds hole is the only one to recieve the collar

Hey, yes that helps rangerover...I just wanted to make sure on it...on the parts diagram for the X's, they show both screws having collars and no bracket...funny how they change the slightest things like that.

Adam, do you have a set of shrouds for my 350x that mount onto a clarke fuel tank? Also, do you need those to atual mount the shrouds or is it ok to run without them ?

Yes you can mount with out the brackets, you can mount without the collars but not recommended by me. I mainly only deal with OEM Honda stuff. Anything along those lines I would be happy to assist you with
