I've found a honda 110 in some guys yard and found out he'd sell it for 200 canadian. The tank, plastics, tires are all good. new chain and sprocket. It comes with another frame, with a motor, axle, and tires. He said it burns oil so I'd be putting a new set of rings in it. How do I go about this?. Take it apart, measure the piston, see if its stock piston which im thinking it is, then order the rings and new head gasket?

Thanks

I don't remember, but aren't you supposed to go up a piston/bore size first?

I would bet you that you are looking at a bad or bent valve rather than a ring job. But once you have it apart might as well replace. Most of the non running 110's I have run across have a bent valve rather bad rings.

Well this one still runs, Just burns a lot of oil. I've got him down to 150. It has a new x-ring chain, bearings front and back. The petcock leaks but that shouldnt be a problem with some jb-weld. I know a guy who replaced the rings in a smokey 185 and it solved all the problems. It has a slight bend in the axle, so I'll need a new one. I'll have to check the year. Does anyone has an axle for a 110. Also there a pullcord for a trx125 on ebay will that fit?

Thanks

dont jb weld the petcock . Clean out the screen in there and it might just fix it. Mine leaked, then i cleaned it out so now it dont leak.

Yeah,,, I hate leaky petcocks and this one is really bad.. On my klt 160 I just ended up jb welding it and it hasnt leaked since.

well worst comes to worst go for it but remember that petcock comes off to reveal the screen so dont weld the two pieces together.

Yeah, well I'll take it apart and go from there.. It also needs a pullcord if anyone has one lying around. I'll post pics if I get it tomorrow.

I have it home now. It runs well just smokes a lot. The petcock stopped leaking on its own. However it shifts weird. It grinds before going into gear sometime, or will go into neutral between gears easily. Could the bottom end be gone'?.

mine does the same thing. i havent been able to pull the cases apart yet, but from what howdy said it is either the shift fork ios bent or 2 other little pieces in there are messed up.

oh yeah, I have an extra motor so it might be easier to switch bottom ends. I'm not splitting the cases. Ill get it done at my mechanic if its not a huge job.

you wont need to split the cases just take the side cover off.

Ok thats not a problem. I thought the shifter went throught the case so therfore wouldnt't I take the Right side cover off. The gear shifter is welded on so ill have to grind that and then reweld it.

I was just looking at the specs page and it says the 1984 110's are 4 speed with dual range. Mine only has 3 gears, seems really slow, and doesnt have hi-low range..Is this the right motor'?

can you read the cyl.? it says the exzact amount of CC's that helps tell the right motor.

yeah it says 105cc..

I just took the right side cover off. Do you need a puller to get the clutch off'? From quick inspection it seems that the stopper pawl is broke. I know for sure that its unhooked from the spring and hanging freely. thanks

Seems like a common problem with these.. 110.. 125 motors.. mine had a broken shifting pawl as well !!!.. i'm diving in soon, now that i have the SX working again !!! ( got sidetracked.. it's a rule.. i don't work on the 125m if the SX don't run !!! lol )

Keep us updated on how it goes !

Oh yeah, I have an extra motor so hopefully that ones not broke. What I really need is a manual lol. Is there any online. Deepa has those pdf format ones but no 110. What I really need to know is how to remove the clutch. I took all the screws out. Won't budge. Do I have to use a puller"?

in order to take the side cover off you have to take the fly wheel off right?

dooner17
02-06-2006, 08:43 PM
you dont take off that side

Ok the stopper pawl is in. I got one out ofa parts motor. It's all back together except for the piece that locks on the splines of the gearshifter. It fell off when i took the case off and I dont know where to place it back on the splines. It turns with the gear shifter and I'm thinking hits on something..Any ideas?

On bikebandit it's called the lever, clutch. I'm thinking its what kicks out the clutch when you hold the gear shifter up or down.?

Which ended up being your problem? Number 1 or 2?

Ok thats what I was figuring. My number 2 looks fine from where I'm at so i'm thinking number 1 is bent good. Did you use the honda tool to take the clutch off or did you use something else?

dooner17

No I didn't need to remove the clutch to replace number 1. You will to further investigate though.
