If it wasnt doing it before you milled the head, then Id suggest your either not running high enough octane, or the head was milled too much, and the piston is tapping it on the upstroke. Octane depends on compression, so nobody can asnwer that one on the information given. For jetting, you need to do some plug readings and see where youre at. There is no table as to what jet is required for what modification. You mentioned that it had be rejetted before. Did you jet it? Your premeix ration shoudl not change based on what mods you have. Search "ratio" and youll find a few hundred different opinions, but the main criteria for m ix ratio is what oil you are running. If youre running Yamalube, 32:1 is good. If youre running Walmart chain saw oil, youll want to go 20-25:1. If you are running a high performance racing oil, 50:1 is typical though some can run much leaner.

yea i hav jetted it myself and did a good job on it, the previous problem that i had was i burnt a hole in the top of the piston from a lean condition, but i think i have the jetting down. im running maxxis 927 in it.
i wouldnt think that the piston is hitting the head it just vibrates pretty bad.
anyways im sorry about being short with *Edited* guys didnt mean to ruffle anyones feathers.

i would guess motormounts, is it vibrating bad at idle and while riding or just while driving, or just at idle. maybe its not motor related.
B Raffa - are you sure its a 500 main? i dont think i am anywhere close to a 500 in my tri-z. i have a milled head, old dg pipe, 38mm carb and yz topend.
to put that into perspective my snowmobile which is an mod 800 motor, 175hp run on 112 only has 470mains in it. thats a 470 main in an 400cc cylinder.
Not trying to step on toes, but just seems kinda big

Not trying to step on toes, but just seems kinda bigI was running a 500 main in my Z when i was using the stock 32mm carb. But that is now gone and using a 38mm with smaller main.

My Quad-Z had a 500 in it when I got it. They told me it was "jetted for racing." Actually was jetted to run like crap, and ended up at a 420 by the time I jetted it RIGHT.
