how to tell if used 1-way clutch (sprag) is good?

If i go to a junk dealer to get a used one way clutch (sprag) for my 85 big red, is there any way to tell if it is good or not? should it only turn one way? What am i looking for to tell me it is warn or not?
I know i should go with new but $ is low at the moment.
