Main jet - 102.5
needle position - 3rd
Pilot jet - 35
pilot screw - 2 1/4 turns
starter jet - 65
These are for the 1983 YTM200, carb. is a Mikuni VM22 (clamp on to intake). In 1984 they switched to a VM22SH (bolts on to intake).

my 83 ytm 200e bolts onto the intake...Maybe its because it's an "E"?

Yup. The carb that Yamaha switched to in '84 was actually the one they used on the 200E (or was it the ERN carb. they used:wondering I forget but it doesn't matter now I guess).

bump. is there any advantage to the VM22SH vs. the VM22?

Also, I was wondering what jets I needed to replace and with what size in order to get a little more fuel to the engine and improve on performance a little? Any other tricks or tips? Pretty sure mine is an 83. Also where do you reccomend I buy the jets?

I am going to bump this... For the main jet, needle piston, pilot and starter jets, is that millimeters? And for the pilot screw, that is the screw going into the side with the spring on it, right? 2 1/4 turns "out" after you screw it in all the way?
Thanks

MAin and pilot jets are sized according to each manufacturer, smaller = leaner,,bigger #= richer. So if you have a 35 pilot, but are stumbling lean, increase to a 40. Pilot screw is a smaller screw w a spring. I think you are looking at the idle screw. Adjust it in and you will here your idle climb. very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Pilot screws are generally hid down underneath and hard to get to. I use a tip from a cordless screwdriver in my bare hands. There are some great carb how to's. Search them, and you'll be educated.
