Hi
Me and my brother just picked up a 85 250R in a bit of a sorry state but I think we had quite a good deal for here in the UK ,, We got him down to £250 which converts to $440 . It need a lot of work mainly front and rear fenders , the rear axle has been welded and the head pipe is a mix of F@@k knows what !!! But with a bit of TLC I think we can save her !!!

I just read this thread after seeing the pics.... I can never seem to get emails to go through to you so heres the email...

Not bad for £250!. The frame of course has to go back to red. What i can see it needs is rear + front fenders, Headlight shell(i think i see a crack), A new pipe that one looks pretty bent, a frankenpipe!, And tires all round. Thats the biggest money items i see that it needs. Other things are just hard work... like painting the engine. On the downtube of the frame theres some sort of electrical thing, What is it? Good project for sure!!! and a great price considering its an R. Remeber to keep us updated on the progress.

P.s: ordered my first bit of new plastic for the Z today :):)

hi stacey
that looks like my 250r when i got it, except mine had the frame hand painted white and was ugly as hell. its going to be a lot of work but a lot of fun too.
mine had a crack in the side case that was full of some kind of sealer, inside the engine wasn`t pretty either, thats the only thing thats holding my project up:cry:
i recommend getting the frame blasted, then check to see what needs welding, then get it powder coated or sprayed.
but i know its going to look great once you set your mind to it.
good luck

Hi ,, Me and my brother got the motor out of the frame tonight and took the head off ,, looks real clean and its got a oversize piston (50 thou over) in her ,I,m going to tear into the motor tomorrow as there is a problem with shifting through the gears and there is damage to the case around the shift shaft that has been jb welded , so I reckon I,ll just have to go right through it cos I think she,s had a hard life!!
Cheers

hi stacey your is just like mine was, it had no wiring harness either, no cdi or regulator, but things like that do come up on ebay. i bought a nos cdi for 40 dollars you`ve just got to be patient.
give me a list of things for it, i don`t have a lot of stuff but i will start looking out for you.

Hi
Kust taken a few pics to show my progress (motor is in my garage and frame etc in my brothers) The left side case has got a lot of jb weld around the shift shaft and before I stripped it down seemed like it was leaking oil from here also shaft had a fair bit of play in the bore , clutch main nut has been butchered and the there are variou bits missing :wondering but hey its fun:beer
