View Full Version : '84 250r to buy or not to buy?

a buddie of mine has a pretty nice '84 250r it has farely new maier plastic brand new tires front & rear (even know the front is a narrow styker or like that dont ask me why he put that on ther ) he has rebuild kits for the front & rear calipers & new brake pads togo on the front light& gaurd were trashed in a rollover , has new chain togo on but he cant get the locknuts on the rear loose to be able to rotate the carrier & adjust the chain . other than that it is stock except for new boysen reeds he wants $ 900 what do ya think should i buy it ? it is pretty clean but hasnt been riden in almost 2 years but he has started it every now & again

another friend has a 83-84 tecate basket case i can get off of him for like $50 but it needs a head possibly a bore & piston & a rear axle if i remember correctly

id go for it with the 250r i have an 83 that i got for 500 and it needed a rebuild so all in all im into mine for about $8-900 and i love that bike my 200x hasnt seen the light of day since i rebuilt my 250r... the tecate is also a good deal but the parts from what i understand are hard to find

yeah i have a line on another tecate basketcase maybe 2 will make a decent 1

hey if you dont get any of the tecate's ide be interested in them. or just the one for fifty. how far are you from olean ny 14770 let me know thanks nate

Hey if the 250r frame is straight after the roll over... I'd say talk him down as much as possible.....BUT GET IT!!!!:TrikesOwn

i would wait and get an 85-86r.you can find one for 900 easily.i seen one for 600.00 that needs carb work and another for 750.00

Ya tell me i would jump on that. The 85 /86's around here in fla go for 1700 to 2000.:w00t: :w00t: :idea:
