I know the stock gearing on the 350x is 14/40. Has anyone ran a 36 tooth rear sprocket? The larger front sprocket I bought can't be used with the factory casesaver? Batts is the only one I have seen with the Sidewinder rear sprocket. Just wantin some feedback. :wondering

actually the stock gearing on a 350X is 13/40. I am assuming you are running 20" tires. if you ran 14/36 gearing your top speed would ber about 70mph. same gearing but factory sized 22" tires would get about 75mph. stock gearing and stock tires will get about 65mph.

Your right on the $$$$$. Right now with the 20" tires I can run about 65 mph. It seems that the gearing is so tall. I am looking to squeeze a few more mph out.

why are you wanting to go so fast?

I just changed to 14 on the front and the stock 40 on the rear of my 350x and went with 20" kenda viper's. So far i really like the set up. I was concerend with ground clearance but there is very very little difference from the 22" vipers I was running. Yea with a 14 front you can forget about the case saver. Im kind of worried about that myself. what is the difference with a larger rear instead of the larger front? I feel like I am playing with fire with out a case saver.:wondering

if you want to run your case saver but retain the same style setup. go back to the original 13 tooth front sprocket and drop down to a 37 or 38 tooth rear sprocket. going up 1 or 2 teeth is like dropping 4 to 6 teeth in the rear depending on how drastic the change is.

on a stock to slightly modified trail bike I like to stay with the factory gearing, as a well built engine will have enough over rev that you will still have a decent top end but its still geared short enough that it will still pull from a low RPM range.

So if i am understanding correctly with what i am running now (14/40) with 20 inch tires i am close to stock gearing? and that would still be close to the same running 13/38 with 20 inch tires? I dont think my top end is much different now than before. Where i can tell the diffference seems to be sliding the rearend around corners and turns. Thats what i was trying to do with the smaller tire. I'm really happy with it but running with out the case saver is risky. I'm bouncing on bubble full of trouble. :beer

do you still have your 22" tires on rims still? if so mount them up and you will notice a huge difference. the reason why you are not noticing a big difference is you shortened your gearing with shorter tires. with shorter tires and stock gearing your 350X will be very snappy but will have a short top end cuz of gear reduction. now that you have put a 14 tooth front sprocket on you have compinsatated for the shorter tires. now if you go back to the 13 tooth front and put a 37 tooth rear on, it will all feel the same as running a 14 tooth front and stock rear. the big difference is you will be able to run your case saver again.

I'm running 14/36 on both X's.Both sprockets on both of them are sidewinder.Hmmm,i don't have a case saver on either one,but i thought you could fit one on with a 14...With 20 inch tires and this gearing, your just a tad taller in gearing than stock. And yes,i like em.

:wondering When I said 14/40 I meant that I had still had my 13 tooth front. I talked to sidewinder today and they can custom machine any gear that isn't ready. The only reason I am considering changing is I am gettin ready to replace my chain and Axle loc nut, and figured why not.

I have 3 350x's with 14 tooth sprokets on the front, and casesavers. slide on the sasesaver as the same time as the sproket. I want to gear it up more, but looks like i'm going to be going smaller in the rear, along with the 14 up front. Rember 1 tooth in the front = 5 in the rear.(this is aproximate)

Are you sure 5 in the rear? Ive always heard 1 in the front= 3 in the rear= 2inch taller tire.

Where are you located in KY? I live right on the southern tip of IL and I'm very close to Paddy's or Patty's (whatever its called). I think a bunch of my buddies are plannin a ride down there in a month or two. I'll give you a shout when exactly we'll be down there to see if you can go. Man it'd be awesome to ride with someone else that has a high performance 3wheeler, I'm stuck ridin w/ utes and little 300ex's.......ughhhhhh lol.

Sounds good. We rode last weekend in Camden Tennessee, I had never been there before. It rocked!!! This place is full of Sand Pits and trails, probably 1000 acres or so. Coolest part is its privately owned and its free:w00t: Definetly the most sand I have seen in TN.

Thats incorrect, i belive is somthing like 1 in the front = 5 in the rear, = 3.5 " tire.

Here goes,

Stock gearing on 350x is 13-40. Ratio of counter sprocket (13) to rear sprocket (40) is 3.0769 to 1. Takes counter sprocket 3.0769 revs to turn axle 1 rev. Stock tires are 22" with circumference of 69.115" (Honda has 68.3" in their manual.) Tires vary in circum. from brands and wear. I used "pie" to understand ratios. Divide circumference (69.115) by ratio (3.0769) = 22.4625 (inches of tire travel per one counter sprocket revolution.
20" tires would have 62.8318 circumference. Divide ratio and you have 20.42 inches of travel.
14-40 gearing with 20" tires would be 2.8571 to 1, 21.99" tire distance.
14-39 gearing would be 2.7857 to 1, 22.55" tire distance (closest to stock)
13-36 gearing is close also. If you can get a 36 tooth?
But really, like we did back then, for every 2" tire size up or down, change counter sprocket one size up or down.(tire size smaller, countersprocket bigger!)
Doesn't take much for me to go riding kb, I dont care for mud anymore, a little doesn't hurt. Dirt was good untill about 2 weeks ago.

What sprockets are you guys running? i have a 13/37 combo on my 86" with sprocket specialists aluminum rear, and it is wearing fast. I want to run a steel rear but cant find any besides the stock 40 tooth. Has anyone tried 400ex or 300ex sprockets to see if it will match the hub?

I have heard the same about the aluminum rear sprockets. Sidewinder has the hardened steel you are looking for. Here is the link http://www.sidewindersprockets.com/. I am going to use a 34 or 36 tooth rear sprocket.
