quick question , what are my options for getting a little more power from my 83 200x? in order of simplicity .Its a great little machine but I miss a bit of grunt that I used to have with my 250r.
Any other UK trikers out there? and where are you from???

Hey Pablo,
Im in the UK, Poole to be exact. Where are you located?
For your 200x i would think you would want to look at a hotter cam, and a good port job. You can probably just find somewhere in the yelow pages that will do it for you and just send the head itself off. I do my own port work so i dont know where exactly. For the cam..... powroll makes some cams for the X in varying stages. I wouldnt want to go too high tho or you will need to start replacing other things like valve springs when you start revving it higher. A higher compression piston might be something to look at getting. But before these it would be best to start with something like a K&N filter and a pipe for it. Carb........ unless your going for an all our revving racer the stock carb should be ok.

some simple power would be like a 10.25:1 high compression piston and a DG or Bassani pipe, along with a K&N air filter and air box lid off. Then if you want to go all out do what slothminx said

www.powroll.com
Cam,K+N filter,Wesico piston,28 mm carb from a xr200R with the xr200 non R intake,Supertrap muffler and head pipe,xr 200r 6 speed swap.
That would be it.To much and you will kill the motor after a short while.

I have only ever ridden my trikes and never modded on so firgive my questions , Does changing the air filters really make a difference? as they all look pretty much the same , do I need to leave the lid off the air box too?
I am in Essex by the way Sloth.
NO,not just the filter, you have to use a a k+N filter, pipe, rejet,Leave the air box lid on,thats just me..If you want too use no airbox lid use a Outers pre filter, but beware of water?

actually even just taking the air box top off helps. Gives better throttle response and sounds better. And you dont need to worry about anything getting in their. BUT if you mud bog or water bog put you top on.
And filters like the K&N are high air flow filters which means they dont hold any back, others like the stock ones dont let near as much air in which sacrifices performance.
