Ok, heres what I have...

1981 ATC185s --> frame complete/straight, engine locked up

1984 ATC200m --> frame straight/complete, engine just needs a little work

ATC200s motor, needs recoil, minor work

What Im thinking about doing, is scrapping the 185 engine, completely rebuilding the trike and dropping in the rebuilt extra 200 engine...

Plus, doing basically the same thing to the 200m, so I'll have two working trikes. I understand this won't be cheap. Im going to tackle the 185 first. Im having both 200 engines rebuilt by a professional. I may ask him if he can maybe bore the engine for the 185 out to add more power.

Any furhter opinions? Everything is pretty much out in the open now, Im planning on tearing the 185 frame down this week.

Thanks.

Rolling chassies....not quite. these will be ground up restorations. By straight, I meant they arent damaged, and most parts seem to be there. Im no very familiar with these, but from my auto experience, I dont see any big problems. Just time and money.

Ok, I wont throw the 185 engine out. The 185 set outside uncovered for years and the cylinder wall is rusted bad.

Is this about all you can do without boring the head out? And where is a good website where I can get more info? Ive searched, but to no avail...

Thanks!

*Edit*

I found this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-ATC-200-200X-Piston-Kit-Wiseco-12-1-Compression_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43977QQitem Z4602417610QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Is 12:1 too high? Does the head need to be bored to fit this? And does it use the same rod?

Thanks

The 12:1 needs to be run on race fuel(expensive) i wouldnt recomend it , i would use a 10:1 or around there, you only need to use premium pump, also the 185's is a Much lighter quicker trike than both of tho's 200's i would restore the 185.....Also there are cam's for them www.webcamshafts.com i think, www.powroll.com also makes some sweet stuff for them under 200x/XR200 same motor.....also Cobra and DG i belive make pipes for them.

Wow, the stuff from powroll.com is not cheap.

for the bore kit ($570), you get the bore kit, valve springs, and new cam.

It says later on the page, however, that stroking is the single best modification you can do to this motor. Their premium kit is $735. You must send them your crank. It claims a 50% power increase. Im wondering if this is really worth the large price tag.

I was thinking maybe a larger compression piston, exhaust, filter, stuff like that.

This is starting to remind me of that little honda civic i used to own. It was gonna take a lot of money to make that little thing go fast. :)

Im wondering if just a few small things will satisfy me. After all, I havn't even had the opportunity to ride this thing STOCK yet...

They have a pretty mean power to weight ratio stock....Wheelie machines!!!! will go anywhere and run a few days on a tank of gas too...Lots of fun.

you want the best package? Get a UNI or K&N air filter, High comp piston (10:1 for a much better punch, 12:1 to stand it up on end in 4th), Get a mid to high end cam from webcamshafts.com, Bigger carb, and a performance exhaust like a DG or if you have to a corba. These will make it fly. Oh and regear so she goes faster :twisted:

Thanks...so http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-XR200-XR-200-ATC-200-Wiseco-Piston-Kit-4156M06550_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35595QQitemZ 4602076671QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW should works fine? Even though the bore on the atc200 is 65 and the bore of the xr200 is 65.5. Would it need to be bored just a little?

yeah that should work. Just bore it a little bit and it will be fine.

So, I think I found a piston that would not require any boring, which is what I want, but just for clarification, the top one in this pic would be the better choice, correct?

And by bigger carb, do you mean one of a larger bike, like one from a 250r or 350x? Or are there aftermarket?

Thanks again for all the help.
