A few pics of 90\110 aftermarket frames I have picked up. First is a PK Racing frame. Then a Nicholson frame. Then an unknown aluminum box frame somebody told me was an AWS (?). If anyone can identify the unknown aluminum frame, please let me know.

Not sure of the brand, but if you are willing to part with one, I would be very interested in purchasing one from you.

I bought one here in NY... just haven't gone to pick it up yet. It also has some custom chrome rear axle carrier with it. Suposively for the US90 cause of the large axle splines. I'll have to compare it to yours and see what I got! Thanks for the pics!

Those frames are a thing of beauty!

Ooh to be into trikes back in the 80's.

IDK WTF I was thinking when I sold my 85 and 86 200X back about 1987/88 and bought more dirtbikes.... I was so broke at 18yo that I never even paid attention to these ads with these incredible and awesome parts :( I gotta get my time machine finished and get over to Shortline and Vealmonkeys house (while they're sleeping of course......)

All I ever knew about the aluminum frames were that there were 2 models. The one like mine that holds an atc90/110 fuel tank and the other that had the fuel tank built in. That's cool info about the frame though. I never really have found out any other info on it. Thanks for at least shedding some light on the mystery.

I think I remember looking at this thread a long time ago, but I guess I never commented on it. That aluminum box frame is freaking awesome looking. And nice job on the identification shortline!

Anyone know who has one of these aluminum box frames? Besides the extended one that was in the classifieds lately?

If it gets sold, it will be sold back to the original owner on here that I bought it from. We talked about it once, but I can't remember what we decided! LOL Too many thoughts running through the brain and not enough brain cells!

We talked about it, but I can't remember if he said he'd send money and then I'd send the frame or if I said I'd send the frame and he'd send money??? LOL But he hasn't brought it up since. It's sitting up in the corner and behaving nicely.

What is considered a trick or aftermarket frame, uses 81 and earlier atc90 parts on them. You can use us90 parts if you want, but they really aren't the best if you know the rear axle assemblies and stuff. And of coures, you can use aftermarket atc 90/110 parts as well as long as they are compatable with 81 and earlier parts. Sometimes you have to use specific parts, such as the mid generation 110 rear grab bar with the Hi Performance Atc suspension frame. But there were such things are rear disc brakes, knock off hubs, electric start kits, suspension front ends, suspension frames and the like.

136335136336136337136338Well, just figured out some interesting info. Been talking to MyMint over on .org in the Club Nicholson area. We've been discussing the fact that there seems to be 2 different 90/110 Nicholson frames. Each frame has a different seat latch mount and fuel tank mount. My particular frame has no flat seat mount or tank mount area and has a stud for the rear of the fuel tank and the seat lever latch machined/mounted into the middle of the backbone and permanantly welded engine mounts. Zeeker1 has the frame style with the conventional flat mount for the rubber mounted seat and rear fuel tank area, plus removable engine mounts. Well Minty tossed out the idea of wether an atc70 tank, sl70 tank or an xr75 tank would fit. Well after getting home from work, I took my trusty old atc70 tank down into the basement along with its' proper rubber mounts, and lo and behold, THE 70 TANK FITS!!!!!

cool, those frames are awesome. thanks for sharing this stuff Vealmonkey. :beer

suprised there hasn't been a comment on the "frames accepting up to 750cc's". IMO that's just nuts to run that big of a motor in a hardtail, let alone a fully ridged frame.

Those frames were/are a much longer wheelbase, but they were mainly built for the dunes, where sand is much more forgiving on hardtails.

It sounds like some of the racers back in the day were using the 70 tanks on their 90's more than I realized. Alot easier to move around on in the corners! Just talked to Smitty today from the old Smitty's ATC, and he's got Dean Sundal's old racer. His is a Dickson Sprint and he was using a 70 tank back then too. Cool stuff:cool: Definately going to use them on a couple racer builds:twisted:
Here are a couple nicholsons that fit the 70 tank.

I'm confused. You talk about a Dickson Sprint frame and you show all Nicholson frames. I did just pick up a standard Nicholson frame last weekend though, but hadn't posted pictures yet. What I'm wondering is, were the Nicholson 70 tanked frames all chromoly and the standard Nicholson frames mild steel? I'm also wondering, is the 73 and 74 atc70 tanks the same from the rubber mounts to the rear bolt mount? It would be cool to see how a 73/74 atc70 tank fits on one of these Nicholson 70 tank frames. I don't have a 73/74 tank to try though to see if they would work.

Sorry, I edited my post. I didn't post a pic of his Sprint. I'm not to sure about the earlier tanks but I was wondering the same tonight. I would imagine they fit, but I'm not sure.
Here is the eBay nick. Just for everyone to see the difference in the 90 tank mount. The front mounts are in a different location too.

You'll just love this that I just noticed since you posted that pic. My Nicholson frame is different yet! I don't have the longitudinal brace and my tank mount is down on the main frame tube. What do I have now? LOL Upon looking closer at the frame, I'm not thinking it's a Nicholson at all. Damn, I should have really given this frame the once over better. It looks alot like a Nicholson in the back, but the lower part of the engine mount is different, the back of the frame where the rear bearing carrier mounts are, is boxed in and the front engine mount is a permanant part of the frame, non detachable and also welded to the lower part of the neck. I've got to search through some of the 90/110 frame pics now. Figures. LOL

:DI know what you're talking about. Darn, I don't have a picture of the other style I have like that. Same thing, no brace! I'll have to get a pic of it. Do you have one of yours?
The frames in my first post have the tank mount on the main frame tube also, but they have the brace!

Darn, after searching through some old pics, and I should have realized this, it's an early bandito frame. LOL I haven't had one in so long and I was so hoping to get a standard Nicholson 90/110 frame, that when a board member said he was picking up a Nicholson frame and was going to pass it along, that I got all wrapped up and didn't check it out as much as I should have. I will probably resell it for what I paid for it and try to keep looking for a standard Nicholson frame. At least I picked up a really nice heavy duty rear axle.
