I got a Blue Honda 110 from ChrisG today and already I want to modify it :beer

A couple of questions

1. I remember reading a while ago that either a 125 engine will fit in the 110 or the cyclinder and head will fit the 110 bottom end. True or False?

2. What kinds of exhaust are available? I'm sure cobra makes one

3. And whats the largest carb I can put on without having to buy a modified intake manifold?

4. 18" tires or regear it? regearing would be cheaper

5. Anything else?

Depends on if you are going to run it around the race track or not...lol:lol:
But I added a front rack and rear rack to mine and I love it. But the BEST mod I did was put 85 200x hubs on the rear. I chunked those crappy heavy rims and hubs and put on some nice 4x110 wheels and tires on it. I think it made much a difference but I put larger tires on mine cuz its my goof off in the woods trike.

1. the engine can fit into the frame. i'm not 100 % but i think the top end will bolt to the 110 bottem end
2. cobra and dg make an exhaust for this machine also on ebay you can sometimes find old ones from back in the day.
3. i would also want to know this.
4. also want like to know is question.
5. don't forget a k&n or uni air filter.

Question 3. Should I get smaller tires or regear it for the 22x11x8 tires?

ScottZJ
01-07-2006, 07:50 PM
I would say smaller tires would be the easiest way to regear, but maybe not the cheapest. It would be really easy once you do a hub swap, as you could use most any 4x110 rims on it.

I would keep the big ballon tires on the back if you want to ride it at any moderatly higher speeds or elses your butt is gona be sorry for it....

Tri-ZNate

I cant remember who but someone makes a 18x11x8 tire so I could just buy those. I'm leaning toward regearing because if I go to a smaller tire I'll loose any suspension the ballon tires give ya and I'll have more ground clearance.

Check out these smaller tires I found on ebay a few years back, they fit the original 3/130 bolt pattern and are aluminum and the tires are goodyear rawhide tires, I also used a front rim and tire from a old 250r parts bike I had along with spacers from a atc70 to make the hub centered in the forks. I did this because my son is small for his age and had some trouble with the big fat front tire, I rode it my self and this front tire really makes it handle much better. With the all aluminum rim package it make the bike light and runs like a top. This is one of the most dependable bikes I've had. Sounds silly but I kind of like riding it more than my 250sx or 200x. It is just fun to screw around on. A real blast in the swamp mud we have down here.

yeah pics will be up with in the hour.

And this is great to screw around on. If I can find a rim cheap I'll put it on since I have an extra new tire laying around. The front end is do light  I love it.

I absolutey love them. They are very thick skinned and like I said earlier they are a blast through the mud here. They ride kind of rough through the really hard packed stuff or the pavement, but were we ride there awesome. Not sure were to get a new set like I said I won these used on Ebay a few years ago Tires and rims were $30 plus shiping. I have been very pleased with them. I really only bid on them for the aluminum rims with the 3 hole pattern, haven't seen many of those selling used or under $50.

Here come the pics.

And Now that I just reinstalled that tank I must say that whoever the person was that thought up that tank idea should be shot! Why in god's name would you have a PETCOCK on a CARB instead of on the TANK?!?!?!

and has anyone put a webcam (from webcamshafts.com smart *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited*) on these things? I want more low end grunt but looks like everything is more for mid to top end.

Im all for modifying stuff 250sxwheeliepop, but that Blue 110 looks in great condition!. Dont mess around with it, just put some original tires on her and a headlight and you have a very orginal RARE blue 110. But.......... if you have your mind set on modifying it, i wonder what a set of flat profile tires would look like on one of those . Ohh and yeh petcock on the carb = fuel everywhere.

Tri-ZNate
01-07-2006, 08:42 PM
yeah fuel everywhere is right. God its so stupid. Anyway I really just want to make it haul my arse around. Plus I think it would be funny to go to a social activity, have everyone looking and laughing when you hop on, but when you start it that thumping performance exhaust makes them think twice about it having blue balls.

i dunno...but just an idea that some one told me a while back and it did help. im pretty sure you rear rims have a offset maybe 1'' or so, if ya flip the whole tire around then you gain an extra whatever your offset is. like a free spacer.

Tri-ZNate
01-07-2006, 09:12 PM
I'll have to look at it.

And is it just me or do those not look like originals? I was gonna look last time I was outside but forgot to. Oh well I guess I need to go back down.

Check out these tires, I have them on a 110 me and my son are working on, we are waiting for parts to come in right now, I got them off of a 185 parts bike I bought a few months ago, The guy I bought it from said his 185 would do 70mph!!lol which I think is B.S., but any way never seen tires like this, the rims and hubs are of a 185, I just put them on the bike so it would store easy while we work on it, not sure if I am going to keep them, might leave them on there just to see how it performs for a while, they are 18.5 x 9.5 x 8 no really brand just called general purpose tire?

ScottZJ
01-07-2006, 09:27 PM
Well the 82-85 110's came with a 4x130 bolt pattern. Its hard to tell if those were just spray bombed or aftermarket. But I do know its harder to find rims with that bolt pattern vs the 4x110.

Tri-ZNate
01-07-2006, 09:31 PM
ok I see what you were saying I think. My year 110 is a 4X130 and the X hubs were 4X110. So by going with the X hubs you have more tire choices. But in earlier years they were 3X130, is that right?

Actually they were 3x100, 8mm for the early years 110 and 90's. You can see my post and view the chart that has all the bolt patterns.

how far are you from Hershey or Harrisburg PA?

my brother has a 85 125m with a 85 110 motor in it. he switched it over to get rid of electric start and so it shiftes up threw the gears

he has a cobra exhaust, aftermarket mid range cam. 200x carb. him and his friends made a high compression piston for it. took a stock on and welded the top of it and machined it to clear everything.

you can put the gold 9" rear wheel from a suzuki quadsport 230 on the front. it's offset exactly rite and the rite 4 by 130 pattern. he put a 86 atc 250r fender on the front also. he made rear disk brakes for it also using 83-83 200x parts

he put 200x hubs on the back and confiscated my extra set of dual rear beadlocks i have for trx250r with 18x11x8 turf tamers.

let me know if you want to stop down and check it out. i'll pm you with my cell number. you'll get to see my atc 250r being neglected in the shed.

he put one rear quadsport 9" gold wheel on the front of his 110. if it has 22" tires it will fit rite on. he has a 22" cheng shin turf tamer copy

well this what I have figured so far.

Buying a NOS 123cc kit
Buying a Bassani Exhaust
Maybe a PK intake if I see one go cheaper
Thats it for the presant time

For the future
a NOS DG cam
Bigger carb
Wheel Spacers
OEM or NOS blue plastics front and back
And a K&N air filter

I'm figuring about $500-$700 depending on when I buy everything. And this will actually be a restoration with some old school hopups

Well, a 125 top end won't fit on the 110 crankcase, I already asked Howdy about that sometime ago. The 125 engine seems like a slight waste of time/money, you're only getting 15 more cc's, that's what, 1 more HP? Not that you would notice it anyway. Jardine and DG also make exhausts for the 110, and I've heard of SuperTrapp pipes for it, but never actually seen one. Powroll should have cams, but you're not really in need of more low end grunt, unless you're going to be mudbogging it. Which you won't. :) You're going to be revving the guts out of that thing to get any sort of speed out of it anyway, so yeah. Get a top-end cam and you're fine. Plus, if you need low end, just slap the range selector into Low. :D

Tri-ZNate
01-08-2006, 05:53 PM
Yeah thats why I'm gonna get the 123cc kit. It has a high comp piston so there will be a bit more of a punch. Also i took the spark plug off and it was pretty black so off went the air box lid. Gave it some more umph.

sorry i don't have any pics of my brothers 110. i don't have my own camera at home. when i list stuff on ebay i use my friends since i have all my toyota trucks i'm parting out. i have 70 or more. he has a junk yard at his farm. he ahs 70 or more old jepps he parts out to sell on ebay.

he said his 110 has a Megacycle cam in his. he has the there mid range one the make a full race one you won't want that. they still make them. they make heavy duty valve springs and titanuim retainers also. you will need that so you don't float the valves.

he said he has a heavy duty timing chain from Dennis Kirk also. he could not get it to run rite without the 200x carb and the dg exhaust.

I never got a chance to go see it. SWIGIN here on the boards is the one who has it.

Honestly I havent done much at all with the 110. I replaced the old axel with the 200x one, still need to put a spacer in to space it just right. Need to get a piston and send it down to SWIGIN so his buddy can weld it for me (high compression ;)). Hell I havent even got the 200x fork tube welded on and thats been ready to get done for about a month. Just havent thought about the project much I guess.

Necro bump! :)

Anyone run the dratv high performance cam for the 110? And what bigger carbs have you guys tried?

I don’t think those dratv cams are really that good. There are definitely better cams out there. As far as a carb it all depends on what mods you have or will make. A mikuni is a good choice depending on your gains you plan on making.

ATC King

High performance is a loose term. Have you bumped up the compression?

Raising the compression on an otherwise stock engine is going to increase the performance more than a camshaft replacement, and if you are using an actual performance cam, you'll likely have to raise the compression anyway, to offset increased valve overlap.

I've used a cam similar to that, with a higher compression piston. It's obviously going to have more power, but it's still a 110. Without some crazy modifications ($$$), it's not going to set any records. Anymore, I just leave a good running one alone and stock. At some point, if you're going for much more power, I'm guessing one of the larger Chinese engines would be a better choice, but then it's not really a Honda anymore.

I'm sure most people will agree that a Mikuni is going to work best when making more power beyond stock on a 110.
