How's it going? I am new to this forum and have a few questions. You seem like a knowledgeable bunch. I just bought my 82 250r I grew up riding atc's and thought it was time I had another. I would like to make it a better performer. Mostly this 250r is stock and probably about a 6 on a scale of 10. I want to put an extended swing arm and a wider axle in it and I would like to know all of the options I have available.I also need some parts like front m/c,seat pan, front and rear fenders.P.M me if you have any of that or a swing arm or axle.

What is the best bang for the buck power mods?

What is the difference between the 83-84 axle and the 82?

What are the difference's between the 83-84 swing arm and the 82?

What is the stock width of the 82 axle?

Will wider hubs from something else fit,and have the same bolt pattern?

What is the bolt pattern for an 82,and 83-84?
Thanks in advance,Kevin

you can get some good parts on e bay. as far as fenders if you don't care about oem, you can get maier brand. i know this does not answer all your questions but hope it helps some. and yes everyone here is very good with information. just reading here has been a huge help to me. as far as a seat pan good luck.:welcome:

If you have problems finding a wide axle then order rims with a bigger offset then stock from Douglas. www.durablue.com may have an axle for you. Contact Oldschoolin86 on this board as he runs www.miltechracing.com which is THE ONLY option you have in buying a new extended swingarm. Old school extended swingarms can be had on ebay for cheap if you can keep them secret, if not be prepared to fight with others for it. lol

Best bang for the buck mod would be having a machine shop shave the cylinder head to raise compression. Also having a reputable company port your stock cylinder would give you very good gains in HP over stock for the price. Other then that, a larger carb, aftermarket silencer and new reeds would be wise. Be warned that some mods like the bigger carb will change the power characteristics of your motor by making more power in different areas of the powercurve.

If I were you I'd go after the handling mods like wide axle, extended swingarm and upgraded suspension first. No sense having a wild powered trike that handles like a stocker.

Well, I figured I would go and try the local motorcycle graveyard today. They have been around for about 16 years so I figured they might have something. I was looking through their seats when low and behold burried in a stack of seats was a good cond 250r seat. My chin hit the ground when he told me 50$. I almost ripped my pocket off trying to get my money out before he changed his mind. I am still trying to figure out the questions above,Maybe I should sell it and buy an 83-84.I'll get pics up this weekend and you guys can tell me what's what.
P.M.'d you brapp.
