What all is involved in fixing a slipping kickstarter on a 1985 200x? Do you have to split the cases?

Most likely you will. Unless the its the external gears that are worn down?

that was a weak point on the early model 200x's. you must split the cases and look into this thread.

Someone had these kits on ebay a few days ago. (See Howdy) Better get one now cause i dont think there are very many more around.

The cause of 83-85 200x kickstarter slipping is in the ratchet / Pinion gear and the spring set up. Honda sold a kit to fix this problem, the bad news is Honda has discontinued the kits.

To install the needed parts you are required to split the cases. Not a easy fix for the average mechanic.
