I took out my Tri-Z today. This was the first time I have taken it out since I traded for it last weekend. Found out a lot of crap about it. It is overall pretty clean. I found out that it needs most gaskets on the top end. Runs pretty good, but the powerband isn't consistant. I am not sure if the gaskets have anything to do with this or not. Also, sometimes when you pull the clutch in to slow down or whatever, the RPMs don't come down. I have a feeling it might be in the throttle cable. I pretty much hate a twist throttle on an ATV. This is a motion pro twist throttle, probably just a universal set up, but I don't like it. Now comes the questions I have. It relates back to my last thread. I need a rear shock to say the least. I hate the way this one sits. Does a warrior shock actually raise the rear of the trike? I know this ones needs charged, but it is sagging really bad. Worse than any I have ever rode. Anyone know about the shock raising the rear or anything on the throttle problem.

Your RPM's may stay the same due to a leak in the intake.

as far as i remember when i installed my warrior shock on my Z is lowered it some. but the banshee shock i have now raised it up nicely. either one is better then a blown shock lol.

I took a better look over the engine. I can see the base cylinder gasket on the top end is shot. I can see part of it hanging out the front. I looked at the reed cage and it looks like instead of a gasket, they used some sort of silicone. The crappy part of this is the dude told me the engine had been rebuilt about 6 months ago by a shop close to him. It really runs awesome, but if he really had the engine rebuilt, they didn't use new gaskets. I guess I will order the gasket set next week and get started on that now.
Does anyone know if a shock linkage off a quad or another trike would get a little more height out of it?

Have you sprayed starting fluid around the engine when it is running? This will tell if you have an air leak. If the rpms change when spraying then their is a leak. Have you made sure your carb is clean and the jetting is right and a clean plug and air filter.

I haven't done the starting fluid yet. I know that it has bad gaskets though. I am planning on pulling the carb and checking it out. It seems to sputter a little towards the redline. It has a full DG system on it and a K&N air filter so I am curious about the jetting being right. I took it out and rode agian today. It seemed to run better so I am curious if mabey it sat a while just before I got it. I am off tommorow so I might yank the carb and clean it some. I think with new gaskets and a carb cleaning, it would probably be a ton better
What plug do these take? It has a B8ES in it right now. I used to run these in my RM, but they fouled really easy.

That is the correct plug. Do you know what the jetting is now?

I don't know the jetting. Do you know what the jetting should be in it? I was told by the previous owner that it was piped when he bought it, but hadn't been jetted yet and he had the shop that did the motor work jet it. After the first couple of rides I have had on the trike, I am not believing much of what he told me. I can't believe any shop would do a top end job and not use new gaskets. I am wondering if the bad gaskets have anything to do with the sputter at the redline.
At least the plug is cheap. The one that the book calls for in my RM is like $30 each. I just run a B8EG in it. Those are only like $4.

If the bike is stock i would go with the stock main jet to start with. If it is a 85 it calls for a 470 main. if its a 86 it calls for a 360 main. The main jet affects the high rpms. Make sure you put in a new plug.

I put in a new plug today. I also sprayed the starting fluid around the intake and couldn't find any leaks. I didn't get to ride it, but the RPMs still don't seem to come down like they should. I think I might need to pull my carb and clean it out. Mabey something in there is sticking.
