Hey, I know the powdercoating stuff has all been gone through but I have a question. And yes I did the search and didn't find anything. So my question is:
What colors that I can get that will as closely as possible match the factory honda colors.-For a 85 200x? Is just "Red" the best way to go. What about the gray hubs and the swingarm. Do they make a shiny type of the colors. Like for my black pieces I want a glossy, shiny black is that possible or is it all just a flat black. Also does anyone know where the cheapest powdercoating place would be In the Bakersfield, California area? :p

Email Mike at Vintage Motorsports (.net) about this... He knows everything about the powdercoating paint codes. There are flats, semis, and glosses, and hundreds of brands, so not every red will look the same. Consult the experts if you want it done right... James

Well I know with my powder coater, they will match any color you want but you have to buy that powder so that is around 100-150$. Now if you use the "normal" colors that they have on hand, (i.e. black, red, white, yellow, orange, green, blue and so on) then its usually alot cheaper.

I just got my '83 200X frame powdercoated at a place in Mesa, AZ. I asked for 'Honda Red', told them they year and the model and I have to say it looks pretty fantastic. If the place you take the frame to does frames all the time, they'll know what you want (the guy who worked on mine owns an ATC).
I am about to get my swingarm done. He told me that it is a silver powder coat paint, that resembles metal/aluminum in color, which the original swingarm color does. He then told me they put a clear coat over it to ensure it's longevity.
I think the hubs might be anodized. Check the thread we started on this a bit back. I hope someday it might make it to a 'facts' section, so people can just reference it. Not sure if it's possible or not, though.
I'm not sure about a cheap powder coating place out here in SoCal. I'm considering shipping my swing arm back to the place in Mesa, as the guy knows what he's talking about and they do a good job. I might contact the bloke mentioned in this thread. He seems to know what he's talking about.
