The Tecate manual stinks, I have a question on the front hub, How far do I seat the bearings into the front hub? do I seat it so the seal is flush or is it recessed into the hub?

Punch in your info to get the Tecate up. Once you have it up, the whole Schematics will show up. Pick your part and you can get a good look at it and maybe get some answers.
Give me a PM with the exact info you need and I can go to my Tecate Restoration Pics and see if I have a pic of that. I allso have a Friend that made me all the Bearing Pushers and Pullers for when I redid my Tecate. I need to use them again for that Cal-Fab I got. He spent alot of time to build them but has no use for them. Maybe he will sell them to me.

there should be a lip on the inside of you hub that the bearing sits against when it is seated all the way. then the seal sits on top of the bearing. if its like any other hub I've worked on there is a collar that goes over the axle and in between the bearings to help support the inner race of the bearings. then the axle spacers slip into the seal to center the hub in the forks.

If I drive the bearing all the way into that lip, its sure recessing into the hub quite a bit.

Its recessed into the hub, tap it until it seats.

the bearings has to sit in far enough for the seal to sit in all the way.
when you install the bearings put one side in first and then flip the hub over and put the collar inside the hub then put the other bearing and seal in. if the collar is left out it will cause the inner races of the bearings to be squeezed inward and put them in a bind causing them to go out faster.
same thing goes for the axle bearings.

Just double checking, spring side is up on the fork seals?

there should be springs on both sides of the seal. I havent dont them on my tecate yet but if they are as simple has a honda, the embossed writing on the seal faces up. I will be able to tell you when I go home from work this evening, I will look at my factory seals, they have instructions with them.

I used 10 wt oil and it was pretty stiff but they break in so expect them to soften up.
