I am going to install a 12volt 1500lb winch to the front of my ATC200 and I'm going to use a 12volt Harley Road King battery mounted in place of the rear storage under the rack. My question is this: Will the charging system that runs the headlight maintain the battery? How would I wire it to the charging system?

The charging system as it came stock from the factory will NOT charge a battery. Honda made a kit that made it so you can charge a battery. These have been discontinued for a while now, but you can still find one every now and then.

Due to the tiny budget I'm working on, I may just add a maintainer to the battery and plug it in when needed.

Why do you need a 1500 lb winch on a trike for anyway?

If you aren't going to do too much water and mud riding you could install one of those small solar chargers fron Harbor Freight!

It was free. :naughty: And I can get replacement parts for free through work.

Now there's an idea. I actually don't have much use for a winch but it will add around 30 pounds to the nose which was my biggest goal. The battery weighs about 25 pounds but it will be over the rear axle mostly.
I need the weight anyway, so I might as well make it with something that looks cool.
