   I knew the title would get your attention!!!
Here's the deal, I've got $300 to spend on my 85R. Already it has a DG pipe, pro-circut silencer and an overbore wiseco piston. I don't think any of that needs to be changed.... So what is a good buy for around $300 to increase power(not cosmetics, it's pretty enough already!)<<<just though I'd make that clear before some OEM hondaline junky told me to buy a oem rear fender or something!
Any suggestions for MORE POWER for around $300? I want the biggest bang for my buck!:beer
Thanks, Devin

Carb and Rad Valve or V-Force reeds?
Or you could ditch the DG and get a Paul Turner.

I dont know how much the PT pipe is but what about that and paying to have the jug professionaly ported?

Stock carb is 34mm Keihin roundslide. A well done portjob, 38mm carb, and pipe go a long way.

Stock is 34. I have a 38mm PWK on mine. Very nice.
Be careful though. Mods will change your 2-stroke in ways you might not like. Larger carbs give you more top end but you lose some low end. Same with a PT pipe. Big gains on the top end but it changes your powerband. 2-strokes are just like that. You gain something here, you lose something there. Mine for example, it doesn't have much down low but hits real hard in the mids and keeps pulling through the top end.
If you don't want to change the power delivery much, a Rad Valve will improve overall performance a bit. Maybe do that and get some progressive fork springs. See if you can find a stock 86 R carb. Those won't change your power but the throttle response is better than the round slides on the 85s.
What kind of air filter you got? K&N's are tops in my book. Way better flow than a Uni. Going back and forth between them I'd have to go up a jet size with the K&N over the Uni.
Give it to me and i'll spend it for you.LOL
Rad valve, and springs would bo good.

well, i would get a 38mm keihin carb, reed spacer, a good reedcage like vforce or rad valve and a uni filter w/ outerwear....if you hunt around you can get all that for under 300$ and it will really crank up your motor...anything beyond this stuff would be porting, a coolhead or a good pipe....and if you dont really ride through mud too often i would take the top off your airbox too....if you get a big carb i would call sudco or someone and get some jetting recommendations and install them before you even test it out....

Just FYI, a 38mm PWK carb and a rad valve will fit really well without a reed spacer. Not sure what the fit would be like with the spacer on there. The Rad Valve has interchangable boots so you can get one that goes right on the 38mm carb no problems. The carb to airbox boot is a PITA though. A Corona bottle and a heat gun will do the trick. ;)

Send your flywheel to get lightened, and your cyl head to get shaved down by Ronnie. You can do that and still have LOTS of money left over to donate to me (see sig);)

you dont need to shave the head, just use a cr250 head gasket....even though ive done both, i dont recommend it, they like to blow these head gaskets if you shave the head and use them too....and shaving the flywheel can suck for riding around in trails and lugging first or second, ive done it, and it sucks for dumping the clutch too, you really have to wind it out if you dont want to bog the motor down a waaaayyy lot.....

Personnaly, when I pick up a R im going to go this route.
Link to ESR pipe (http://www.esr250.com/250r_pipes.htm#trx5)
I would get ESR over PT just cause it is a more of a all around pipe, Not saying the PT isnt good.
Then I would get a K+N for it.Link to K+N on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-ATC-250R-K-N-AIRFILTER-K-N-AIR-FILTER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34284QQitemZ4576 779554QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V)
So there your up to, 229+37.50=266.50
Then lasty I would get a case saver, you can never be too cautious.
Case saver, ESR (http://www.esr250.com/billet.htm#special)
For a grand total of 291.50 (case saver is 25)
Thats what I would buy, then hold on!

That's what I would do to. Except I'd get a foam filter over a K&N but that's just personal preference. I switched from a DG to ESR on my 250R and could not believe the difference.

Many people would get the greatest return on their dollar if they invested in riding lessons!
