Thanks buddy! :beer

It feels so good to finally have something that runs and needs no work.

The only problems are the reverse light dont work and the speedo lense is held on with electrical tape.

I must thank Huffa for finding it and staying on my case about it. :beer

The best part about it. It was only 10 minutes from my house! :w00t:

Good looking SX there. I need to get me another one

Does anyone have any suggestions on what they would do to it to make it better. It's going to need a new front tire soon as this one is less than half thread. I know some of you dont like the wooley boogers but they have some life left in them and I was pretty impressed with the way they handled the 8+ inches of snow we got. I'm not sure about fixing that speedo cover either. its missing the chrome ring that holds the lense on. Any ideas about that?

You can still get the original OEM OHTSU tires that came on the SX. Check out Chaparral Motorsports' site. They have pics of them. rangerover, who is on this site alot, can get them for you pretty cheap, I believe.

thin rim conversion for the front. I would get a kenda front max on the front either way.

Those rears are "Dirt Dogs" I do believe. Kenda Front Max for a new front trie would be great. Maybe some new handle bar grips and some fork boots.

chris200x
12-22-2005, 03:15 PM
turbo, I paid $1000 for it. but i still think i got a deal. I've seen ones in similiar shape go for at least $1200+

Brapp, YES, Finally I'll be able to go out with you guys. Seems like everytime this year we tried to get something together I was without a ride or something did not run. I still have the grizz. I was gonna use the money I got to take the griz to the shop but I couldn't pass this trike up. Besides, huffa would have killed me!

conig, I was thinking about the 200x front end last night but after thinking about it I would like to keep it stock as much as possible.

big green, those my friend are old school GATEWAY woolies you see there! ;)

thanks for the comments and suggestion guys. Keep em coming.

12-22-2005, 05:11 PM
Lol... Yes fortunatly this trike needs no carb or intake work.

But if it did I'm SURE i could handle it. As I have learned alot over the past year on these boards and working on that money eating 200x I had.:D

Anyone ever see red anodized rims before? Just thinking out loud thats all. but I think that would be really cool.

I wouldn't say that. I repainted plenty in my time and think it is highly dependent on your tire choice as far as rim protection. Some protrude out just a hair more then others and do a fine job of protecting the rim.

Silver is nice but I favor gold myself.

NICE TRIKE  :beer :naughty::w00t: ;)

...........and the best thing about them is they are reversible........ or is that they wear like iron.......... or is it that they are good looking......... or is it that they hook up great.......or is it the great tread depth they have .......or is it that they self clean very well.......or is it that they are a excellent value for the $$ or is it.......?

Hey Chris, guess what came on that 50 dollar SX I just got that you may want :naughty:

I was unaware it had it till I went to pick it up. Give you a hint........it's tuneable, starts with a S and ends with a P and will save you 3-5 lbs I bet!!.

Best thing is you can try it for free and if you don't like it, you can just simply give it back :w00t:

OH....... and you most definitly want a nice headlight grill to complete the casing guard. Gives a nice touch to it. Look close on yours and there should be 2 little plastic-rubbers caps on each side that fill in the holes where the grill mounts.

Pop them out and the grill screws in with two small philip screws per side.

chris200x
12-24-2005, 08:27 AM
Are you saying that other trike has a supertrapp on it? If so I would most definitly like to try it out. :D

I really like the gold rim look also. It makes it stand out a bit don't you think?

I was also thinking of adding the grill to the headlight as i know of the mounting tabs you speak of. That would look sweet indeed. When I change the front tire I might as well do the fork boots then. these are not tore just tweeked but I don't like the looks of them. Are oem ones available? other than that I just need to change the fluids and I'm ready to ride! :Bounce

Hey do you know what else I found. This thing has an hour meter mounted in one of the headlight vents? I wonder if that was just a cheesy add on or were avaliable from honda?

Nice score Chris ! Lets see a close up of that hour meter okay ?

I am currently getting a 85sx back to being a runner.

Yep, a steel Super Trapp. It's all there but needs a good paint job for sure.

OEM boots NOT available ........ebay "copies" are.

Hour meter = very cool item. I'd call the guy up and ask if those are the original hours on it. Who knows if it was installed afterwards.

As jesweinhart says..........A pic would be great of it!! :beer

As soon as I get it to my house I'll post better pics. I dont recall ever seeing one of these on a trike so I dont know if he was yankng my chain about it being from the factory. There are 441 miles on the speedo but I dont remember how many hours the other meter said. but it looks to be a very low hour and well maintianed machine. Anyone have any ideas about getting a replacement chrome ring on that speedo. Or if it can even be replaced?

Gary, I asked about all the goodies. They were all installed at the dealer before he brought it home. :naughty: One of his family members bought the trike new in 85' new to use for hunting. And has been garage kept it whole life. :w00t:

The rims I painted on my SX still have yet to get a chip in them.. they're still as shiney and un-scathed as when I put them on.. if you get the right paint, it works awesome.
I used Rustolium (I think) Industrial paint.. it is very strong bonding, and flexible and works awesome. The only bad thing is I think they discontinuted it..

And Supertrapps ROCK! They aren't too hard to fix up either. If you want some help w/ shining yours up or something, just check out the SX thread I have linked in my sig.. it shows how I fixed mine up.

Hey chris Nice SX you got there. If your gonna throw a supertrapp on there throw the 350X carb on too along with a K&N. :naughty: then she will have balls to the wall and sound good too.

Also Most of us have different opinions on front tires mine favorite is this thing. I cant even remember what it is.

.

I imagine you can't just throw on a 350X carb and expect it to run right with out rejetting it so ......... How did you rejet it?

As for throwing it on, is it that simple? It bolts right on, throttle cable hooks right up, choke cable installs with out no problem, air box & intake boot same size?

Fill us in on the whole prodedure, would you?

Thanks!

for my pipe and uni air filter with the lid off I jetted it to a 135 main which still runs rich but I'd rather rich than too lean. (I have a K&N comming this tuesday so I'll let you guys know how it runs with that. Oh and if your going to leave the air box lid on go down a jet, because mine boggs out with the lid on if I punch it).

The 350x carb is a direct fit. Might take a few minuets to get it in but it fits right on the manifolds and the throttle cable is a perfect fit. It doesnt get any easier.

As for the choke cable I didnt care about it so I just use the stock choke on the carb. But there may be a way to hook the SX choke cable up to it.

I remember reading it in a thread here somewhere wheeliepop. (carb) But I really dont want to rejet the carb. :naughty:

Nouse, there's a k/n already in there so if I add the supertrapp would I have to rejet anyway?  :banned:

CTCM............ Chris the carb man  Why don't you want to rejet?

When I put my ST on, it backfired a bit, (RUNNING LEAN) so all that I did was lowered the clip on needle. This raised the needle leaving more gas through ...........problem solved.

WOW !!!! I just got a head rush, I'm having a Apple Martini, good stuff!
