Hi every one I recently bought a 200x I still have yet to pick it up. I new to this whole three wheeler thing what should i exspect from this model trike. How fast will it going stock and what are some of the common problems with them. It is a 83 :w00t:

Biggest thing is your riding style. Not sure if you've rode one before but when you ride a trike body english is the key and don't put your feet down when cornering or if you feel like your going to tip over.
Pick up a owners manual for it and have fun.

They're fun as all heck in the snow!

I too, just purchase a 200X. Haven't been able to ride the darn thing yet, but I'm slowly getting it restored. Hopefully in the next month or two.

I bought this on eBay. It's very handy to have. I didn't see any up at the moment, but I'm sure if you contact him, you'll be able to get one.

I also have a contact for a manual, although I'm not sure what year you got. The last I checked, there was an '84 manual on eBay as well.

Looks to be in pretty good shape. It looks much better than the one I bought, that's for sure. I was too hasty in my purchase.

In any event, this is an '84 Manual. It's probably the same as an '83, but I'm pretty sure I contacted the seller and they were able to get me an '83.

Only problem you might come across is the rear swingarm, it is not as strong at the other years seeing it is a tubular design and not square. I like the pipe! Is that a bassani?

I've been told by a few people that they like the '83 swingarm's durability better because it is steel and not aluminum. Is this not the case (I know it was Honda's intention with the new design, but did it actually work)?

i guess its just a matter of opinion then? All that i have asked said the 84-85 was better because of the square design..If what you say is the truth, then why are all the 250Rs and such have a square swingarm design? Wait arent all 200x swingers steel?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you are wrong. I was just curious. I always thought they went with the aluminum swing arm because aluminum is lighter which is desired for racing and that they went with the square design when using aluminum because aluminum is a weaker material and would fold like a tin can if it were round. Maybe not though.

Nice 1983 200X,you have a vast aftermarket of parts avaliable for 83 to 85.They are the best 4 stroke Honda ever made. They have stock 15 HP,top speed is about 62 mph.

I am restoring a 1985 200X,i have to build the motor them i will be done.I have heard alot of good thinks about them. They have a awsome power to weight ratio.

:welcome: to the board

Yeah i read threw you restore thread that thing looks sweet. Damn for 15hp that sure is alot of speed. SO i figure since i'm a bigger guy it will probably go about 50 or so mph. Not that i'm looking to race mine just going to use it to ride the feilds and ont he ice durning winter. When i get it home i will take some pics and let you guys know how good it rides. :beer . So is the bassani pipes good top of th line type pipe?

Tri-ZNate

Bassani is a good top end pipe and gives it a real nice throaty sound (you'll hear it when it starts :naughty:. And even being a bigger guy that thing should have no problem hitting 55mph and beyond.

They actually look like the original 250R tires too (although it's pretty easy to find that style).

Thanks for the info Jason85atc i didn't know that, and judging from the guys add from ebay either did he. I take it being set up like this is not going to cause me any problems i hope.

it should work okay. just does not look as cool:lol: without the aluminum rims.

the actual 200x brakes work better on the front due to the bigger brake rotor.

i have a front rim laying around i'll sell for $20 + shipping if you want to swap the stuff back.

the R front end should work just as well as the X if not better. Dont worry if it was done right you'll be good to go.

More then likly for now i will just leave it alone aslong as it looks like every thing is safe and done right. I'm for sure going to get some smaller tires to help me from flipping it over, and get it lower to the ground. :wondering

Tri-ZNate
12-21-2005, 10:33 PM
well if you dont have to worry about ground clearance get some 18in tires in the rear and get an extended axel along with an extended swingarm, but for free you can just play safe till you learn your bike ;)
