Does anyone have the calfab Tecate tank or Tri Z tank? I might know a guy that can build a couple if we had a pattern.

Could you maybe post some bigger pictures of that tank?
Me and my father were thinking of trying to make one, and that one is the best I've seen so far. If you could post more pictures of just the tank that would be great!
Thanks.

You might want to do a search on 3wheeler.org, Dan over there scored an ex race Z with the top mount tank.
Blazer, any luck on the Cal-Fab Tecate tank? :Bounce

I don't understand why you say you can't go far on a tank of fuel with those tanks. How far do you consider far. I think the zinger tank is 1.5 gallon right? I can ride for 3 hours on that.

my atc250r doesn't go too far with a short track kit, it seams as I am always putting in more gas, the short track kit has about 1 gallon. By far, I'm reffering to laps around mx tracks, at e-town, I can go about 14 laps before I'm nearly out of gas. I always get comments about how I am constatly putting more gas in.

Nope no luck, ran across a Cal Fab swingarm for a 85 Tecate though searching. I'm not sure if I am going to buy it yet though, I have to get the 82R chuggin again and finish up the Tecate and get that Z topend done also. Man I need to go riding...

Here is a link to an old topic and pics of mine.
I had a guy a few months back, willing to put up the money to have me make 10 of these for him (a couple for him, then the rest he was gonna ebay) He never did get back with me though. If someone is serious, and would at least have to put up the material money up front, I would get as many made as needed. Seems like everytime it comes down to it though, no one has the cash to pony up for the aluminum, much less the labor it takes to make one.
There are a lot of guys on here that could do it cheaper then me though,.. but not including materials (aluminum, spout with cap, and spicket) you have to add in $50 an hour labor rate. Each one would have around 2-3 hours of labor involved to do it right. So you can guess at how much each would be, if I were to make them.

Thanks Chainsaw
My dad is a real good welder, and I think we can make one very close to the one you got. I finished installing my Zinger tank today, but I would rather have something that doesn't mess up the stock body lines so much.
As soon as I can gather the stuff I think we will try to make one.
I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.

Some more info, incase you do use the dimensions from mine. Cut 4 pieces of old Radiator hose. 2 of them will go on either side of the tank, to keep it from going side to side.. it will center it in the frame. the other 2 pieces, cut them vertical down one side (split it).. do that to both of these, then wrap one on top of the other around the frame right behind where the coil bolts up. I use zip ties to keep them on, along with the ones on either side.
That keeps the tank off the metal frame, and sitting on rubber everywhere. Ive never had mine bounce up and hit the airbox cover yet... so it keep it in place very good (along with the front wingnut that keeps the airbox on.. it goes through the tank as well to keep it from moving)
You could even run the vent line under the stock airbox cover so you dont have to drill a hole in your cover.. but mine has a hole and it goes up like a normal 3 wheeler would. You can see that in this pic.

I'd love to see a modern version of the Tecate shorttrack tank made. Something that has more agressive lines, maybe shrouds. Hmmmm...

I think I have found a better choice for a top mounted fuel tank. I am still doing some trial fitting so no promises just yet. but I think you all will be pleasently surprised at how simple and right in front of us this option has been all this time.

Sell or trade me that aluminum tank if you do :D
I do still want to try and get ahold of it and make some copies though if I can ever get a brake and slip roll.
