Hi, is there a difference between a 85 and a 86 350x swingarms? Can you use a 86 on a 85 ?will the brake caliper from a 85 fit on a 86? Also, are the bearing carriers different as well, will a stock axle or durablue fit into both with no problems?
Are there noticeable differences in the arms themselves that 1 can tell reight away the swingarm is a 85 or a 86?
thanks guys-MUD.

the 85 350x's have the smaller bearing carrier similar to the 85 250r's.

i think the brake calipers are different also i think.

how can you tell if the bearing carrier is a 85 or a 86?Is there a difference in the 2-I have the carrier that on the sprocket side you can stick a punch or long phillips head screwdriver into to pivot it, is that a 85?Also, my swingarm doesnt have a pin welded on the rightside(caliper side)for the brake caliper to attach to, does that mean it is a 86 swingarm with a 85 caliper?

My bearing carrier looks exactly like Redriders-heres a link http://hometown.aol.com/flys4pnuts/page1.html
Is there a possibility that I purchased ma 250r swingarm instead of a 350x or are they the same?My reason for the question is I just purchased a DURABLUE axle for a 85 and I'm worried I dont have a 85-If anybody has any pictures for viewing, I would greatly apprec it!!!! I'm very confused here, please help!!

That's a 86 bearing carrier..... along with a 86 swinger.....

Ok, can the 86 swingarm go onto my 85 frame? Also I just ordered a new Durablue axle for a 85 bearing carrier, will it fit into the 86 bearing carrier with no issues? I looked at the listing in ROCKY MTN catalog -it doesnt specify either, just 85-87 atc350x do you happen to know if the axle will fit into the 86 bearing carrier? I'll need to buy as well a 86 rear caliper with stay or can I use a 85 stay and caliper on the 86 swingarm? Do you happen to know if the rear shocks are different as far as mounting on the 86-85 swingarms, will a shock that is bought for a 86 swinger fit in the 85 frame on the top mount?or are they the same ?Thanks for the replies, I'm so lost on this----Oh yeah the axle is a DURABLUE DB-2011-30 heavy duty axle.:(

Yes... the axles are the same between 85 and 86. A 86 swinger will bolt onto an 85 frame and vice versa. Just that you need to have the correct brake calipar bracket for the swing arm you use. Also, the 86 rear sprocket uses a countersunk head on it and special tapered bolts to mount onto the axle. This was done to have more space for the different bearing carrier (86 - bolt holes to adjust, 85 the thinner spanner wrench tool)

thanks for the reply, the new swinger came with the brake caliper stay so Im good on that-I am assuming that if the swinger bolts on to the frame that shocks are interchangeable as well as the rear caliper too.Are the sprocket hubs the same too?or do I need to buy a 86 hub? Can I just replace the the 85 bolts with the tapered 86 1's?I think they are available from Service Honda
