Well the mounting base on my T3 kicker broke off at the pivot just below where the ball in the kicker goes. ( Know where I'm talking about?)

In any case I've mig welded it several times and even took it to a professional welder and it keep cracking off. Temp solution?

I've got a replacement on the way from Meat-box whos been awsome with helping.

Get some locking ajustables. Works for shifter so why not a kicker.

Try what wheeliepop says, it should work.

Kick over a Tecate lately? Those vise grips would come loose first kick. Besides that the frame is in the way. I'll jump start it before I put on pliers....

Weld a socket on there with a 1/2 drive ratchet.

Then what did you think he was talking about?

Big Green, like you said push start if you want to ride that bad, any quick fix will just lead to a bigger problem, you don't want to strip your kicker splines.

Got it welded again today. I've mig welded it several times but this guy had the gas setup with his mig, seemed to do the trick. Anyway he said that the part to be welded was hardened steel vs the softer steel bead of weld so it wouldn't hold up. In any case its holding on right now so all I can do is put some faith in it.

Later guys.

Hot new pics! Kicker broke off again lol but I welded it and it hasnt broken off during some hard kick backs from the bike...PICS!!

Notice how tight the steering is, the fork tubes hit the tank. New seat cover, wheel spacers and new carb too. Snow in some pics, love the little bay of ours in the others. Newfoundland is the hot spot to be, absolutely beautiful spot.

Yea, Tecate kickstarters are kind of finicky. Some how mine lost the little ball that is inside the kick start wher it slides onto the piece on the kicker shaft. Know what I'm talking about? Don't know how it happened, It was there when I started riding and after a while of beating on it the kicker started flopping around a bit then it would just do what it wanted! I know for a fact that the ball was in there when I started riding because the kicker locked into place. I think you need to come down to Trike Fest this year. Who knows it could be the only 85 there other than mine!!

You know for sure the ball isn't there? Might be seized, mine was until I fixed it. If not then it prollay came out the back where the allen screw and spring are supposed to be.

Trikefest is a dream lol. Too far to travel with the trike on my budget but definately some day.

Trike has a date with the pressure washer and a can of Gunk degreaser Saturday after my ride. lol Needs a bath badly.

Oh, I know for sure it is gone. Took it apart and was like uh, where did it go?

In Pismo years ago my brother broke the kicker off my 86. We ended up using a Banshee kicker since that was all that was available. It worked well but was shorter than stock.

Yah but its not the lever that broke. #13061 sheared off at the base of the knob.

Hmmm, that could be tough, did you try welding a new peice of metall on it? Or does it have a special taper to it? If you can weld on a new peice run your mig welder all the way up, burn right into it! If not, do the same with the old one, just take your time.

I put a big bevel in the bottom of it, ran the mig on the highest temp and welded it solid. Holding up thus far.

Has the kickstarter blues...

If you can wait till you get the replacement you'd be better off. don't wanna mess up those splines.

A little off topic here but I'm curious about that front tire your running there. I think it looks good but how does it make the trike handle. I would think its alot heavier than stock so that must help a little.

Btw, this was the kicker on my 200x.:lol:

It handles good. Lots of traction, don't push in the turns.

Kicker is fixed, seems to be holding up better then any other time before.

if it breaks again, i would have someone tig weld it. a tig has a stronger weld plus it will penatrate deeper

sblt500r, I don't know anyone here with a tig. I really wish I did though cause that would be the best way to fix it.
