I have new bearings and seals for the front and rear of my 85 110. In my manuals it shows you insert the first bearing with a special tool, and then the center tube and then the other side bearing. How do you know how far in it is supposed to go? And do I have to squirt grease all inside the carrier, but on the outside of the tube placed in the middle? I've never done this and I dont have this special tool that pushes the bearing down.

A block of wood makes a good special tool. and I think you just pop it in tight to the lip in the housing or until you have enoughh room for the seal. The bearings should be sealed already. you could pry the rubber seal and push in more grease. I'm not for sure on this I'm still a rookie but thats how it went on my 250r

use a socket that a little smaller than the bearing and drive the bearing till it stop. they should on only go in so fare.
