I just got an 86 200 X and I want to dial her in. I started too fast and ran into some trouble on E-Bay. What im looking to find out is what are all the seceret Part swaps from different Sport Hondas and what year parts fit on the 86. I want to hook her up nice and I got her into my house so im ready to get her going for Spring. I have a Post about parts I need in the Classifieds but im allways looking for any good part so hit me up.
I see Plastic Tanks On E-Bay but they dont look right. Any other companies make tanks? How would 350X tank look on a 200x?
First thing I need is an 86 Honda 200X Manual I figure.

for aftermarket parts, you can do exhaust, intake, cam, higher compression piston, stiffer valve springs, that sorta stuff.
I do believe you can put 350X forks, swingarm and rear shock on the 200X, i think i seen it done on Muddy200X bike (not quite sure though...)
Post some pics, i miss my old 86 200X, it was a great trike.

you can put a 350x front end on, I have a 350x tripples and 84 r front end, modified cobra pipe with supertrapp tail section, roll 86/87 250r pegs, you can't put a 350x shock on the 86/87 200x, thats why I bought a works shock for mine, I don't think you can put a 350x swinger on either. I have ported/polished motor, 27mm dg carb, dg swinagarm skid plate(also 350x skid plate). my next mod is a cam, I also used a cable for a 38 a/s 250r carb for the 27mm carb and 200x/350x/400ex thumb throttle, if you preffer a a twist use the twist kit for a 83-85 200x. I also have a 10.25:1 piston. I currently have a +4 durablue axle, but a 83/84 250r extended axle will be installed(you need to use all the 250r parts). This will bring the bike to 50 inches with the 200x hubs installed, if its too wide use the 83-85 200x hubs or 83/84r hubs. No plastic tank fits right, it can be made to work, I used it for a few months before I got a good stock tank, heres a pic http://pictureposter.allbrand.nu/pictures/deathman53/200x-1.JPG.html, I used 83-85 200x shrouds on it for awhile, I recently changed them to 350x super scoops and trimmed the shrouds abit. good luck with you mods, pm me with any questions, I tore the whole bike apart and put it back together and later modded it more. Its gonna go under more surgery during the winter. I also cut the stops for max turning.

thats a interesting setup, I don't know how they did that, it might be a 83/84 shock, a 85/86 is completely different and its about 1" longer. I have a few liquid 250r shocks, 85, 86, 2-86 trx, 87 trx, I would try it if it is a 85/86 shock.

thats not a 85/86r rear shock, it looks to be a 200x shock. I've never seen a air cooled r shock, but I explored using other shocks and I was told that there wasn't much choice on shocks. I just notice that shock has adjsutable compression, stock 200x shocks didn't have them.

what shock is it then...the 200x shock is blue. This on seems a little wider(red one).

Looks like a 83-84 200x shock to me (85 was the same but blue spring). I'll go get a pic.

Maybe it isn't a 1st gen 200x shock, you have the black plastic adjustment knob on the resi, not the bottom of the shock. Here is the 1st gen 200x shock anyways...
