I just bought a '86 250R hub and rotor off of ebay to put on the front of my Z.What the Hell is the two metal spoon looking thingy's between the stud and the hub that are oposite of eachother. Are they for a Speedometer or a Odometer or something like balance?????I wanted to know if I can get rid of them. Killer deal,Got it for $5.99 plus freight.

I will tonight.A friend of mine has an R,But what ever those spoons are used for was not on there anymore. So we have no Idea what the hell they are.I just want to know if I can press out those two studs and take those spoons off and then re-install the studs. They just look stupid.

Those are what makes it faster than a 4 stroke?

Theyre on mine, one is bent, and I have no idea what they do. I wouldnt think balance weights would be needed on the hub because you couldnt change those when the tire is changed (without a lot of trouble).

I cannot picture at all what you guys are talking about...only thing remotely close is a speedo gear drive.

Oh...them things Hahaha! I have no freakin clue, my guess Honda put them there with the theory that they would get turning with the wheel and make sort of a circular air vacume that would help the wheel turn easier and faster? who knows.

I remember those days!! The kids now are sticking plastic Coke bottles in their wheels.

Even my warped mind cant think of any use for those tabs.

my 86 200x and 86 350x has them, so does my 86 250r front hubs, odd, my 84r hub doesn't, nor does my few 85r front hubs, there had to be a reason for them. maybe is has something to do with how the racers were using 10" front rims?????

I am blown away.I thought sure enough someone on here would know what these are.I figured it was something common sense and that I was being an idiot for not figuring it out myself.Has anyone on here taken them off?

I took those tabs off my front wheel hub about 18 years ago when I was removing the gold anodization from the front wheel. My guess, as to their purpose, is similar to Billy's, except I believe they help cool the front disk brake system. Hmmmm, that could explain why my front brakes have smoked ever since.

My guess is an assembly aid. Probably done at the factory for some reason. Regardless, i'm curious why your going to a Honda hub now anyhow? You planning on ordering a 10" rim from Douglas? If so, i'd get it in ASAP. I sent my paperwork in last week and with 2 orders the chances of having them sooner are greater!
If your planning on running the 11" Honda rim, that wouldn't make much sense to me, seeing as how you already have the 23" front tire on the 12" rim. Just wondering what your thinking.

I want a 10" ITP or Douglas.Do you know if ITP makes one.I just want a better selection of tires.

Service Honda calls them a "Stopper"
No idea what they're meant for...
