The Tri-Z is the one that I posted the pics of a few weeks back. Here's a few more shots of it anyway. The Tecate is an 84 red model. My brother took this one, he was needing a new ride and this one fit the bill great. Can anyone tell us what kind of pipe this is on the Tecate?? Oh, we picked both of them up for a smooth 400 bucks :naughty:

That Tecate pipe is cool looking...I'm almost positive its not a stock one, because they were completely stamped and not a sectional style like that one. It might be a Jimmy White replica Bassani, or a PSI pipe. Not even sure who all made Tecate pipes to be honest.

Boy, that tecate is colorful, looks like you have some nice projects though. Good luck

Might be a Bill's pipe. I had a round black steel silencer on my 84 that was a cobra silencer.

One other interesting thing is the Tecate looks to have 1986/87 OEM rear tires. And the aluminum front rim it has is nice as the OEM one was gold painted steel.

Good price for those two trikes! :beer

hey lomax you may wanna tell your brother when he really starts to look over his ride check out the tabs that the bearing carrier sits in. A1 and A2 tecate were notorious for bending those tabs to one side form the engine pull.

to prevent that from getting bent after being straightend is take it to a machine shop that can weld aluminum and have them weld on another tab on the opposite side of the original and use another chain adjuster and it will not bend again as both side are held tight when adjusted.

i know this cuz is the same way and I have to it fixed.

The pipe looks like a bassani, a tecate in my area has one that looks just like yours. Have fun with those!

I will let him know about the tabs on the chain adjustment system. Thanks
On my Tri-Z the front fender, rad. shrouds, headlight shell and airbox cover are in PERFECT condition other than needing a little "brighting". I hated to go Maier or use a less than perfect set or originals so after a little searching I turned up 2 sets of rears in black that are brand new in the package.

if you can get a pic of that pipe all in one picyure I could tell better if its a bassani or not. I have 5 different aftermarket pipes for that generation of tecate and all are very similar but, a bassani pipe uses a straight silencer whereas the others use a silencer with a slight bend where it connects to the stinger. its kind of hard to tell from the picture if the silencer is angled or not. as for my pipes i'm not sure what they all are except for the dg and the bassani and maybe a wheelsmith.

Its perfectly striaght from one end to the other. In fact, the silencer is only about 13-14 inches long if i remember right. It could be a little shorter or slightly longer.

nice find man!
good price too, although id either repaint or replace the green fenders on the rear.

someone on here a while ago had a vented number plate for the 84 tecate, it cleans up the whole front of the bike, personally i love the look of it with the plate.

i wouldent mind owning one either, they look like a blast on dirt roads for sliding.

The rearend of the Tecate actually isnt as wide as the rearend on my 350X. I think outside tire to outside tire was 47 inches. I think setting next to the 200x kinda makes it look on the large side.

the low pro fenders also make it look wide as well.
