View Full Version : CR 480 pwered ATC?

here is one I just spotted on .org, a 83 CR480 motor in a 83 ATC250R. Now this is something I would like to do, if it is proven possible. Anyone know? any photos out there of the conversion?? AND, anyone have a CR 480 to part out??

There's friend's of mine that are dropping a 490cc air cooled 2 stroke Honda motor in an 86 or 87 TRX250R chassis. I dont know the year of the motor or chassis, but the mounts should be the same and so fourth. It should be a while before it gets done, maybe sometime during the summer. I've told you guys about an air cooled 500 2 stroke motor in an air cooled 250R chassis before, the guy down the road had it, but sold it. He said the motor dropped right in also. The water cooled cr500 2 strokes fit in the 250R quad frames pretty readily don't they??? and somewhat readily in the trike frames?

johnny blaze did it, he said that it was relatively easy, but the engines are rare, and the kick start is on the left side

Holic.... Seeing how I sold my other R, I cant do the 500R conversion... Their is an 83 CR480 in Camden 40 over... $500 Swap sheet..... Ive seen adaptors to put the kicker shaft out enough to clear the frame

This bike has intimadated many, in a trike the torque would be unreal!

ok, so is that yours?? If so, I hope you have an 83-84 R, so you could visually look at the possibilities of a swap??

It was mine but I recently sold it to my little brother, funny how the damn thing still takes up space in my garage! I don't have an air cooled R, but if you need any measurements let me know Holic
