300ex->200x axle questions

my friend wants to put the axle of the early gen 300ex onto his 85 200x, is this possible???

I dont think so, I was looking into the idea for the 86 model and it didnt seem like it would work, the Shaft diamieter is too large and its a little wider across the the center.
