Is there a special way to restore the fenders on my 225DX, and my 185S so that the scratches are not as noticable??
I was going to use some 1000 grit sand paper to rough it up a bit and then put some wax on. But would this be the correct way to handle plastic??

For a quick improvement I'd get polishing compound and an electric buffer.
Go to Walmart go to where the Black and Decker power tools are.Look for the 3M paint stripping wheels that go on a electric drill.Do the whole fender till the sanding looks consentric.
Did that on my 1985 200X rear fender.Came out great. This would only one step.If you wanted a mirrior finish you would have to do some wet sanding.

Cool thanks. I have some of those wheels for my Dremil. But I didn't think they'd work because they seem a bit too coarse.
And yes, I want the mirror finish look. I am trying to get it to look as close to showroom as possible. It was my first trike ever, and although I will be riding it once it's done, I still want it to look good too.
And thanks again for that link you gave me for the exhaust. The Cobra kit si exactly what I was looking for!!

Just consider it as dried out weathered paint. "Test inconspicuous area" Try a small spot on the underside of the fender --if it works out well--Go for it

I love mine, take the packing out trust me.You will be amazed what it will do for throttle responce.Yes it is a little louder. But be respectful when riding thew populated areas, and it shouldn't be a problem.

Your Dremmel will melt divots in the plastic with friction heat lest you take you eye away.

I bought an NOS rear fender for my 185S, and I know where one more is, REALLY hard to find.... Let me know if you're interested...

Well, my 185S has some deep scratches, but it's livable. Nothing is broken, but the mud flap extensions are gone, and a few times it's filled up the back of my father-in-law's helmit with mud and practically glued it to his head!! Gotta live caliche mud!!
My 225 is dulled out, but so far there are only light scratches.

And this is Cujo, my nasty-dangerous 185S:
